this will be a good case study not for the actual merits of the case, but if you can just get a homecooked judge to rule for your team and draw it out over a year with no consequences.

If there is no threat of losing anything and they get a free year out of him, this could easily become more widespread.

He probably will get another year based on Miss legislation. I'd be surprised if he didn't. He honestly should go to the NFL but he must really like the college level.

Sounds like a ploy to try to keep kids from jumping into the portal before midnight.

Seems like they have guys in the fence.

Also gives them some hope to sell to people in the portal.

His draft stock will never be higher.

He needs to go the League

would be a shame to see him return to a mediocre team and fall in the draft relative to where he is today.

Hard to bet against Chambliss given what he’s accomplished but trying to match last years production with a new play caller is going to be very difficult

1. I think he’d do well in the NFL but none of us here know his work ethic, his football happens, his motivations, nor his attitude.

2. I want him to make a statement against the NCAA. If they are going to let schools in certain conferences (Big Ten) have a bunch of 6th-7th year players on their rosters with no resistance, then that same standard needs to be applied across the board. Either they can all have 6th-7th seasons or none of them can. Make a rule and enforce it. No exceptions at all.

Trinidad Chambliss vs. NCAA has officially been filed in Lafayette County Chancery Court.

Lafayette County, MS doesn’t have personal jurisdiction over the NCAA and shouldn’t have subject matter jurisdiction over the case either as the alleged issues in controversy occurred in Michigan. The NCAA is going to get this moved to federal court where literally every other case like this has been heard. Mars is likely banking on a motion to dismiss being filed, a favorable MS judge granting an injunction and denying the motion to dismiss, and then slow playing the appeal into next season.

This kind of stuff can also place doubt in NFL gm’s minds as to character.

You think this guy is low character for trying to get an extra year of eligibility in the current ncaa environment?

Unless an NFL exec is retarded this wouldn’t even be a topic of conversation outside of this making him a year older when he attempts to enter the league

Would be a terrible precedent to be set.

“Hey I didn’t play for a season and should count as a redshirt and here’s a made up reason why”

He’s going to win. The NCAA loses pretty much every case they are involved in.

No they don’t

quote:

Yahoo Sports national college football writer Ross Dellenger reported after the judge's decision in Patterson v. NCAA that "the NCAA has won 26 of 36 eligibility cases in which a judge made an injunction decision. Eight more eligibility suits have been voluntarily dismissed and five are still pending."

How does a single judge have unilateral authority to do this?

While I agree in general that we should have hard limits on eligibility and stick to them no matter what, I’d rather give an extra year to a guy who didn’t play at all for 2 seasons than a year or two extra to guys who have piece mailed 50-60 games worth of experience over 4-5 years getting more time.

Will be interesting how they determine when a guy’s eligibility clock starts ticking though. When he accepts a scholarship? That can be maneuvered around. When a guy first plays in a game? You can have guys on the scout team for 2-3 years before they start their eligibility. They’ll probably have to do something like you can’t play in CFB game unless you are officially on a college football roster and once you are added to one you only have 5 seasons to play starting from that one. If you leave or get hurt or whatever, tough shite.

It’s actually been the opposite of that. They’ve just taken a bath recently when it’s come to hot button popular issues like NIL and transfer restrictions. General eligibility lawsuits, they haven’t lost many of those

Ole Miss will be a disaster. His stock will not be as high as this year. He needs to run to the NFL.
