That would be compelling. Why have a regular season if all you have to do is be in the top 7 of the SEC? Top 5 is bad enough.

This shite isn’t playoff football. What a joke.

It was even worse last year. Tulane would’ve had a bye into the quarterfinal in last years CFP
ETA since they obviously will make corrections to the terrible setup like they did last year when Boise had a 3 seed so rethought it, they need another adjustment to just have 4 autobids to conference champs at the very least. If a G5 team is good enough and deserving they will be higher ranked than a P4 champ like Boise was higher ranked than Big 12 and ACC champ last year and Tulane and JMU were both ranked over ACC champ this year. At least ND would’ve been in playoff rather than JMU

I mean I’m pretty positive Texas and ND would have shown better than the bullshite product on the field in Oxford and Eugene today

Having a sixth place team in the playoffs is retarded.

At least have some kind of play in games for the obviously crappy teams so only one gets in the playoff.
There are just too many teams. The logical thing would be to remove the conference champion requirement. The other logical move would be to reduce the amount of teams in the playoff. But they will screen it up and probably expand it.
The BCS had it as close to perfect as it will ever get. The 4 team bracket was good too. This 12 team thing is an abomination.

Simple solution. There need to be 2 FBS National Championships. One for the big boys and one for the smaller guys. Tulane and JMU should compete in the latter. 75-80 teams will never be able to win a National Championship this way because they can’t compete. Break it into two divisions. Pretty simple and it’s another pot of TV gold for the networks. Or ESPN I should say.

Don’t watch. There’s your fix. I only watched Bama/OU & Mia/A&M. Screw these other G5 dog shite games. No eye balls…they go away.

So I the past 24 hours the SEC has lost 2 more playoff games? Shocking. Meanwhile, the ACC is 1-0. Yet, somehow the ACC sucks.
The SEC keeps getting exposed until they play G5 teams. No G5 teams next round.

Thanks sir for reminding me why I really hate LSU fans. Moronic comments like this.

I don't mind a G5 team getting in if the resume meets a well established criteria.
Allowing G5's in for the sake of wanting a G5 is some DEI bullshite.

Just remove conference championship guarantees. If a g5 manages to earn their way into the top 12 by the end of the season they are in, if not, they aren't.
The best 12 teams should be in. If that ends up being 6 SEC teams, 3 Big18 teams, 2 ACC and 1 B12, then so be it.

12 teams was always going to suck. College Football is not the kind of sport for that. The 4 team playoff was more than enough. If they wanted a playoff so bad, they should have kept the 4 team format and use the BCS formula to pick the 4 teams.

You’re right. Having two G5 lambs to slaughter in the playoff getting their doors blown off was so much more compelling.

If they want in, they should have to have quality resume. If Tulane for example played their conference slate and scheduled 4 legitimate teams in the non conference, let them in. It makes no sense that a G5 can play one legitimate team in a game where they get housed and play 11 other scrubs and still get a playoff spot. LSU for example would’ve probably been a 1 loss team if they played Tulane’s schedule and they have no business at all in the playoff this year.

There are 130 FBS teams, I think, and less than 20 have a realistic shot at winning a National Championship.
ACC has 3 maybe 4 teams capable of putting that together. Big12 has 2 or 3 tops. Big 10 has 5ish. SEC has 6 or 7.
ACC: Miami, FSU, Clemson & SMU
Big 12: Texas Tech, BYU, Utah, ASU
Big 10: Ohio State, Michigan, Penn St, Wisconsin, Nebraska
SEC: Bama, UGA, Tenn, Texas, A&M, OU, LSU, Florida, Auburn
That’s realistically the only teams who have a legitimate shot to sustain a program long enough to compete year in and year out.
Every other program is either coattails riders or has zero chance of winning it all.

So let me get this straight - SMU, Texas Tech, BYU, Utah, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Texas A&M are championship caliber, but Ole Miss, Southern Cal, Washington, and Oregon aren’t?
Are you fricking retarded?

You’re missing the point, there are 65ish P4 teams. Of those 65 only the traditional top 1/3 of each league can realistically have a shot at winning the Title.

Everyone here is culpable. These same posters upvoting you were bitching every year about the BCS. These MFers have been wanting a playoff since the 90s.
Now you all have it.
