Imagine how awesome a 32 team super league would be. Every match up week in and week out is quality. No undeserving programs taking playoff spots

This is the NFL. You’re describing the NFL. Go watch the NFL.

I pretty much just hate the G5 aspect. If we had Notre Dame vs Ole Miss in Oxford and Oregon vs Vanderbilt/Texas today, it would have been an awesome day of football. Instead we got two body bag games.

Ok buddy you do know if a g5 would've won. Greg Sanky would have gone on every national radio show and complained until g5 weren't allowed.

Now who is petty and sour.

I truly think the committee had an extreme lack of foresight.

They made the system as if the PAC 10 still existed and the Big XII was relevant.

The committee didn’t account for the fact that the Pac 10 would basically dissolve with their relevant teams going to the Big 10 and the remaining good teams in the Big XII going to the SEC.

It also doesn’t help that the ACC has completely shite the bed across the board the last few years.

A G5 has a realistic shot to win in the right circumstances in all of those other sports but not football. They just don’t belong in a major CF playoff.

I’m perfectly fine with a G5 school getting in if they go undefeated like teams like Boise, UCF, Cincy have done in the past. Heck even Boise last year when their only loss was a close game against a playoff team in Oregon.

What I’m not fine with is a team like Tulane going 11-2 with blowout losses to Ole Miss and UTSA. Or JMU having a loss to a non top 25 team and getting in.

What do you guys think of next year’s format? It still seems like it’s got some big holes to me, although maybe it’s really that difficult to find the right solution.

After this year, the committee will realize they have continuall6 been bamboozled by the SEC. SEC teams talk a big game about iron sharpening iron then they lose in the playoffs. No SEC has made it to the Finals in the past 2 years and none of them are strong enough to make it this year.

I totally understand SEC fans longing for the BCS or just letting the media vote. That’s the only way they can win is to get 3 out of 4 slots or just threatening the media to vote their way. Luckily, having to play the games is allowing the sunshine in. Miami was what, the 4th place ACC team and they just whipped an SEC team.

Boise has had some legit teams.

They won a few against P4 teams, IF they had a month or more to prepare. That's not the same as playing a P4 schedule week in and week out.

Face it. No G5 team will ever win in the current system. They need their own tournament. That way they will have a champion every year. If you want to play with the big boys, become a big boy school.

The executives at ESPN. They want controversy b/c that's what sells. They are are creating games and storylines that attract eyeballs and allows them to sell ads in what would otherwise be dead air.

Follow the money!

Why do they need their own tournament. College football became one of the most watched sports in the history of this planet with no one giving a shite about G5 teams much less their concern about winning a National Championship. The top G5 schools stadiums seat 20,000 to 30,000 fans. Unless they have a midweek game where they are the only game on TV their viewership is around 50,000.

No one cares about G5. Let them win their conference and go beat a depleted P4 team in a bowl game and feel great about their accomplishments.

Just give them their own playoff that they realistically have a chance of winning. A G5 will never win a CFP championship. Ever.

Who is supposed to "give" them their own playoff. If they had a worthwhile product that would actually produce revenue then CBS, Fox, or some other network would have already created one. The cold hard truth is no one cares about them to include their respective alumni. Just look at their attendance and viewership ratings.

We had the computers and everyone hated them

It wasn't just computers though. You still had Mulligan U backdoor their way into a 2 team BCS formula. Had only computers been used maybe you'd have a point, but when "best loss" was being used to get a certain team a mulligan then you didn't have a 100% objective formula. That mulligan is why we now have this garbage today. Congrats!

To me the goal of the 12 team system was to make sure a 2 loss team who had tough road losses but could be the best team on a neutral field had a shot to win it all

They have accomplished that for the most part. Do you think there is a team who isn't in the playoffs who is the best team in the country? If you think ND, I guess you can try and argue that but they lost twice once at home so I disqualify that.

The quarterfinal games are pretty good in name at the very least. They already fixed us having Arizona St. and Boise. St level teams in the quarters. They need to keep fixing problems but the goal is to have the best team in the playoff and they have accomplished that both years thus far

This is actually the ACCs tiebreaker rules fault

No, it’s the crap auto-bid formats fault.

They have to get rid of the auto-bids or at least make a qualifier where you have to be ranked in the top 16 in order to get an auto-bid.

There are years when a G5 team is worthy, but those are outlier years, not something that should happen every year.

I don't know, but the fact the Ward Manuel was the chairman last year should tell you everything you need to know. The guy is a cheating loser
