The characters are really REALLY well done. Not a single one I don't like

Nagata was incredibly unlikable. But yes the show is very underrated. Loved it

I really hope they pick it back up and complete the last 3 books. It's been long enough the actors have aged enough for that time jump.

I'm currently reading through Abaddon's Gate (the 3rd book that the 3rd season follows)!! I watched the show and went back to the beginning with the books. Absolutely incredible series!

The really funny thing to me is that after watching the show you naturally make the characters looks like the show counterparts... But Gunny, yeah, poor Gunny in the books is built like the Rock, so she has the actresses face but the Body of Dwayne Johnson while reading the books

This isn't House of the Dragon where it's the same characters with different actors, but full on a different setting in time.

Put some gray in their hair and a little aging makeup. It wouldn't be that hard.

What I love about both the books and the show is the lived in feel of the universe.

The small touches. Like why a lot of the Belters have that neck tattoo. And their Creole language, which came about from so many Earth cultures being together in confined spaces over generations. Or how its pointed out Miller has bone spurs on his neck from living in a low G environment.

For those who enjoyed the books, Corey has a new series called The Captive's War trilogy. The first book came out last year. The second is expected sometime this year.

That stuff works well enough for an episode or two, but if there's an adaptation of a whole season, or 2 or three, that may not play out so well.

Expanse

I finally started this one a few days ago. Watched the first episode and it was interesting. Not sure how fast I’ll be able to get through it but it’s one I’ve wanted to watch for years.

Keep at it!! You'll be glad you did.

In other news the used Expanse books are expensive as shite. $150 or so for the whole 9 book set.

I finally found the first one on eBay for $7 after trying the local half price books here and they wanted $22!

So "I'm that guy" was short lived as my favorite Amos quote to be usurped only a few episodes later with "I'm going to need my gun back"

Damn good character.

Her story arc from S4 and on almost made it hard to watch. On a rewatch I skipped through a lot of her scenes.

Yes, it was too much. But on rewatch, I liked what they were trying to do. I enjoyed it better the 2nd time.

Already a Novella out too. Which is good. Conspiracy spoilers - no knowledge but my guess is humanity is fighting humanity from different parallel development with the “suits” having taken over evolution of one branch and the rest of the humans not evolving much since.

Season 5 WTF. Could they have possibly drawn out nagara on the booby trapped ship anymore?!?!

Good Lord. That should have have been like 2 episode arc at most. I didn't need 5 episodes of her crawling around on the ship crying and gasping for breath.

Love me some Drummer though

Agree

Her and her whole family suck both on tv and in book

Only negative about the series

I own all the audible books for S.A. and listen to Ty & That Guy at times. (Listen reading is still difficult for me. I need to get through PHM prior to Mar 16).

From my knowledge, Drummer in TV is more an amalgamation of characters in the books?

I love Cara Gee so much as Drummer, I don't want that to happen in book life.

Tough to pick between her or "Amos" as my favorite character. When I start thinking she's number one, Amos steals another scene with a one-liner.

He's such a good character.

Drummer:
- doing crunches upside down suspended from ceiling
- brief boob shot getting out of bed

Amos
- I'm that guy
- I'm going to need my gun back

The other thing Expanse does well unlike say, Avatar is the nuanced villains and heroes. Aside from holier-than-thou Holden, most other characters are flawed and just when you think you know who someone is, the next thing you know Peaches is joining the crew of the Roci.

Amos is arguably the main protagonist particularly given the book ending.
