I do have taste. I enjoy great shows/movies.
You on the other hand seem to be the type of person that doesn't understand nuance.
Just because something isn't a 9 or a 10 doesn't make it a 1 and certainly doesn't make it unenjoyable.

Denzel being a great actor and Denzel being a DEI decision are not mutually exclusive concepts.
This is also a fact, but I'm avoiding trailers and judgment on Denzel casting until I watch the movie

I think you both have ulterior motives. It’s why I can’t recall posts from either of you that were critical of any piece of entertainment media.

I give my honest opinion on anything as long as I feel like the person asking is sincere.
Look at my response to darkdrifter the other day in the midst of the shitshow in the acolyte thread.

The only thing that annoys me is people going into a movie/show without an open slate.
You gotta put your personal issues aside and judge the content on its on. If it's a 4 its a 4. If it's a 9 it's a 9.
But to be a 1 it would have to be worse than barney and to to be a 10 it'd have to be better than interstellar

Who asked for this?
Looked decent until the rap music cranked up. Then it took me out of the Roman era feels.
I know, it's probably just trailer noise, won't be in the movie or soundtrack, but still...why put in there at all? This isn't A Knights Tale.

I thought the trailer looked great but the choice in music was trash. Hopefully the next trailers/commercials stick to music from the soundtrack.

People are sick of unoriginal movies. When gladiator was at its peak, there wasn’t a single person on the planet saying wow we need a sequel. It’s lame and everybody knows it
Meh, I’ll go see it. I like multiple actors in it. It’s been close to 25 years since the original.
I’ve got bigger beef with many other remakes and sequels than this one.

Are they though? The most successful movies this year are Inside Out 2, Dune 2, Kung Fu Panda 4, Warner Bros Godzilla/Kong 5, Bad Boys 4, Despicable Me 4, Planet of the Apes 4 (or 10 if you count the old ones and Markie Mark one), Ghostbusters 5, Quiet Place 3.
The only movie that isn’t a sequel or remake in the top 10 is IF.

There are basically only so many ways to tell a story honestly and they've all been done. Every movie from now until eternity will resuse those same story structures.
Idk what you mean by original but even if it's a "new" story it will still just be a reiteration of one already told.

And I’ll never get why people are so surprised that movie studios would produce sequels to successful movies. They’re a business after all.
Imagine if Apple launched the iPhone or iPad and just left the original out there and never made another version of them. That’s stupid for business and is the exact opposite of what your customers want.
So many people on here think because they don’t want a sequel to a certain movie or have no interest in a particular franchise that it means that no one does.
Still can’t get over the idiots who said that Avatar 2 was going to be a flop because “NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT” and “IT’S JUST A RIP OFF OF LIKE 7 DIFFERENT MOVIES”. That last one always makes me laugh because many of the same people love the original Star Wars (and rightfully so) but conveniently ignore how many previous movies that it ripped off, many blatantly so in whole scenes.
For me, I just want quality entertainment. If it’s in a franchise and they keep making good, entertaining movies, then I’ll keep seeing them. If they aren’t entertaining, I’ll stop.
And can we all please stop acting like Hollywood just recently (in the last 2-3 decades) stopped being original. They’ve been borrowing stories from history and works of fiction from the beginning of film.

this is objectively impossible. literally no one, including you, approaches ANYTHING with an open slate. we all have preconceived opinions, biases, judgements, pet peeves, etc. how could someone possibly go into every, say, Disney movie in 2024 with absolutely no opinion or preconceived expectation on how that movie would be? what you are saying makes no sense and goes against human nature itself (which, interestingly, goes along with your politics).

so the Corinthinans420 rating standard is the one by which all other humans should judge and rate and movie?
interesting.

Deciding whether I like or dislike something after I consume it, instead of before I do, is having "no taste". Cool.
So, being a three year-old who has decided the food looks nasty and refuses to try it is a very close approximation of your idea of "good taste" and how to formulate it.
Sounds like you and the three year-old would both consider yourselves informed and critical, and you'd both be idiots.
