HBO‘s long-developing Harry Potter series has locked in two key members of its creative team. The series has named Francesca Gardiner as its writer and showrunner and tapped Mark Mylod to direct multiple episodes. Both are Emmy winners for HBO’s Succession — Gardiner as part of the show’s producing team and Mylod as both director and producer.

Gardiner’s credits as a writer and producer also include His Dark Materials at HBO, Killing Eve at BBC America and The Rook at Starz. Mylod has directed episodes of Game of Thrones and the upcoming second season of The Last of Us for HBO, as well as feature film The Menu and Showtime’s Shameless and The Affair, among others.
Pretty impressive resumes. Just keep the folks who wrote and directed the fantastic beasts movies away from this series

Seems like a promising duo. HBO is pretty much the only one I'd trust to not ruin a franchise at this point (GOT wasn't their fault, really) so I'm glad JKR went with them

Yeah the worst case was just naming lame arse David Yates. I’m glad they’re getting a pair that have a proven track record over multiple shows and even a movie to run things.

HBO could absolutely crush it with this series if they dont race swap any of the characters. There will be incredible pressure to race swap Harry and Hermione. I hope they tell all the woke cultists to frick off

I doubt they race swap many characters but a black Hermione is coming. People need to be prepared

This would be so dumb on HBOs part. It would instantly take me out of the story. There are already good black characters with from the story. That decision would instantly turn off half of the viewership

See Blade.

So a retelling of the same stories that only ended in film in 2011 with what i have to assume is a lesser budget? Why?

Yeah, she already made that a thing with the cursed child. Wouldn't be a surprise. We could see a few other swaps of minor characters, wouldn't surprise me. I don't think we have to worry about anyone becoming trans though.

Because the movies kinda suck compared to the books and they left quite a bit out. Potterheads have been wanting this from the beginning. HP still sells a shite ton of merchandise too. Plus JK now gives 0 fricks when it comes to using HP to make as much money as she can and taunts her haters with the money she makes while they try to cancel her.

I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione 'turned white' -- that is, lost color from her face after a shock -- that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with," Rowling said. "But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.
This was in response to black Hermione in that dumbass Cursed Child play she wrote, but you can bet that’s all the confirmation HBO needs.

They are going to throw some tannies in there just to piss of jk

Yep. Outside of the first 3 and the last one, they’re really not that good. Nostalgia blinds a lot of us. They can really do it justice with a series. In fact, this is something I’ve wanted for a while but didn’t think we’d get for another 10-15 years

Doubt it, JK controls her property with an iron fist. She will have to sign off on everything. There may be more of Dumbledore being gay in it though. I doubt she will allow any trans stuff in there with how vocal she is on twitter about it.

Quite a bit of the books never made it to the movies, I am hoping for more of the backstory but nothing like that tripe that was Fantastic Beasts.

I'm fairly excited about the series - we should get much better acting in the first season compared to the film - plus we'll flush out many a character as well as add those left out.
And . . . I'm sure they have to have Rowling's blessing on everything - she is the executive producer and I'm sure has all creative control.
She is not a fan of anyone (especially trans) taking the parts originally planned for a woman. She has made that abundantly clear to all - including a few of the dipshit actors that owe her their careers. That will not happen.
My only hope is that the music (or at least a variation) makes its way over to the series.

Music and Castle Design would both be something I want to stay.

I didn't read the books, but I can't imagine anyone being Snape but Alan Rickman.

The only one I can see without hesitation is Adam Driver.
