It really is. That movie hit every note. Like other here, I dont pass it up

What is so odd about that movie and the series is that is probably is the goat or top 5 movies ever but the series itself has the biggest fall off within the series.

Jaws - Jaws3 has to be the biggest drop in movie quality in any series. Ever.

Spielberg knows that less is more when it comes to the shark. An idea that a lot of directors since have tried to emulate.

Actually, that's not true at all. He was planning to use the three mechanical sharks a lot more. Their failure led to him transforming the movie on the go.

“I had no choice but to figure out how to tell the story without the shark,” Spielberg said. “So I just went back to Alfred Hitchcock: ‘What would Hitchcock do in a situation like this?’ ... It’s what we don’t see which is truly frightening.”

Quint’s story of the USS Indianapolis

Best scene in the film. The great parts of the film is where we don’t see the shark but we know it’s around. 43 year old film and still holds amazingly well.

I have the 25th anniversary special edition with all the hoops and whistles and I still caught a bit of it last night on AMC

I can't not watch some of it anytime I see it's on.

It's Spielberg's best film IMO. Timeless. It'a a story that man will gravitate to forever.

Stop. There is only one Jaws and it is the one worthy of watching over and over.

I consider it the closest to perfect movie that has ever been made.

Quint's death scene was one of the most chilling I've ever seen, kicking for 10 seconds like he might get away then the scream when the shark finally gets him, Shaw acted his arse off in that film.

Permanent spot in my top 5, GOAT status, I avoid it on tv... If I allow myself to flip to the channel couch lock sets in and I'm there through the credits.

And my favorite movie of all time.

Best thing that ever happened to Spielberg’s career was the shark not working consistently and having to switch to the “monster’s perspective”

Beaches took a hit when this came out.

People were scared shitless of the ocean. Hell, pools saw a decline in attendance. It was a true phenomenon.
