Jonathan Majors ‘Heartbroken’ Over RDJ’s Doctor Doom Replacing Kang in Next Avengers Movie

Jonathan Majors told TMZ that he’s “heartbroken” over the news that Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom will be the new villain of the next two “Avengers” movies, effectively replacing Majors’ Kang the Conquerer.
Majors was dropped by Marvel in December on the same day he was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault. His villain, Kang, was set up as the new Thanos of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was set to feature prominently in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” which has now been scrapped and replaced by the Downey-starring “Avengers: Doomsday.”
“Yeah, heartbroken. Of course,” Majors answered when TMZ asked him if he was hurt by the new direction Marvel was taking. “I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though.”

“I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love … and [he’s] being allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level,” Majors said about how Downey was afforded a comeback despite legal troubles. “I didn’t really get that.”
Would Majors want to return to the MCU as Kang? “Hell yeah! Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang,” he said. “If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants then let’s roll. Hell yeah.”

Maybe he wouldn't be heartbroken if he hadn't left his ole lady facebroken.

My alleged crimes were nothing compared to what Robert and his agent just did to Disney in those salary negotiations.

self-sabotaging and wandering into a neighbors house because you're an addict isn't exactly the same as beating a woman

I think Disney decision had more to do with the fact that the character sucked and they were headed to some bad box offices continuing to role with Kang.
If they wanted to keep Kang they could have easily recasted him.
Dr Doom will drive the box office with Robert Downey, plain and simple.

If he sticks to addressing it exactly like this, and he shows contrition for what he did wrong, I could see him getting another shot down the road. He’s young so there isn’t a time urgency right now.
I was looking forward to where he’d go with Kang.

I would have preferred to see someone else do Doctor Doom, if only because Doom works much better if you include his Easter European/Romani background as to why he is such a bitter prick.
That having been said, with no insult intended to Majors, Kang was meh in the MCU. Hiddleston and Di Martino dragged some good stuff out in Loki but they did some heavy lifting. RDJ will bust his balls to get Doom over.

I mean... how long was Downey out of movies for, though? With Majors... it's been what... a couple months? A) Don't compare a drug habit with beating the crap out of your girlfriend and B) Do your time, so to speak.

I like Dr Doom and I like RDJ. I don’t know if I like this casting tho bc I’ll keep seeing Tony stark.

Correct on all fronts
RDJ was in movie jail for a long arse time.

Oh frick you, you whiny “victim.”
Not only was his transgressions just internal and self destructive as opposed to abuse of others, he still had a long road of self reflection and rebuilding his career.
You are bitching about getting ANY consequences at all. You don’t think RDJ missed out on a lot of opportunities when he started his road of recovery?

I hope he does an accent.
Majors is a good actor and did some good work with Kang. I didnt enjoy it, but he def showed some range. He'll be alright. My question is why does there have to be an end all be all villain? I get Thanos and Kang, but didn't Doom have a group with him? Please correct me as my comic book lore is very hazy or non-existent.

i think in an alternate universe, he doesn't beat his girlfriend

The Kang storyline sucked anyway. The multiverse is not compelling storytelling

Correct.
Thanos was a Big Bad and he was in cameos and small parts for like 2-3 films before he was unleashed. Meanwhile, one Kang variant was knifed by the Great Value female Loki, and another was beaten by ants. Yawn.

His performance as Kang kinda grew on me, took awhile but I liked what he did with the character. Too bad he dropped the bag by being a shitty person.

I mean, how long ago were RDJ’s troubles? Decades ago?
