Reva being able to mind read is why they keep her around I guess. Seemed like they could’ve just led with that during the opening scene but we had to get some exposition I guess. Just kinda lazy writing.

Since she can read minds, you kinda have to look at the scene with Owen again. Instead of threatening to kill him, she could have read and discovered:
1) Obi-wan is there and
2) Owen's raising Anakin's son

Then again, maybe the only thing she got out of Owen was
"frick you, bitch"
Props to Owen, if so
Makes me wish he went down a little better, at least a couple stormtroopers beside him and Beru.

As someone else mentioned, it's a bit hard to get past the original Star Wars dialog, which implies Owen and Anakin were raised together on Tatooine. Anakin leaving to "join the army", etc etc, and Owen more of a Wyoming mindset to stay at home away from all that bullshite. And Owen blaming Obi-wan for getting Anakin killed.

On another note, I recognized that toy Obi-wan gave him, Luke was playing with it in Star Wars. So it does go back to the Lars homestead after all.

Evidently catching a 9 year old is too much for a Jedi to handle.

Anyone else feel like black inquisitor chick and Kumail should have been cast in each other role?

I feel like she would have fit much better in the con artist helper role and that he could have better pulled off/would have been a better fit in her inquisitor role.

You do realize that basically the entire point of Star Wars is that Luke and Leia are special and will be more advanced than others their age right?

Clearly the “liberal stuff” doesn’t bother you you just shoehorn it into situations where there are other obvious explanations

I’m a conservative and can’t stand the bullshite they pull but this isn’t it

Her dad was the only human on Tatooine that could survive a pod race when he was 9 years old. Then he won a pod race. Then he flew a starfighter he’d never seen before and blew up a Trade Federation battleship a few days later.

But Leia saying some big words at a similar age is just too much for you to believe. Got it.

All of these things were also nonsensical and major problems with the prequel trilogy.

I found 10 year old Leia similar to Lyanna Mormont and most people thought she was a bad arse

You think that was the "entire point" of Star Wars? So 10 year old Liea is just inherently faster than Obi Wan?

Her character is terribly written and directed. Period.

Maybe I’m not around little kids so it seemed weird to me but was that girl actually a 10 year old? She seemed 5 or 6 to me.

I always just kind of assumed Owen was skeptical about Anakin ever since he returned with his mother’s body after mercilessly slaughtering an entire village of sand people.

Anakin kinda gives them a pissed-off look of “I had to do what you pansies couldn’t.”

Probably made Owen think “well frick this guy.”

I am a little confused at Obiwan seeming so over the Jedi and it’s ways, seeming determined it’s not only over but very over for him personally yet he also seems bent on training Luke at a later date

Also, it remind me of the mixed messages SW sends about training. Yoda tells Qui-Gon that 9 y/o Anakin is too old to be trained but then eventually agrees to train a 22 y/o Luke to Jedi status in just 3 years. Then Luke starts training on a 10 y/o Ben Solo, a 19 y/o Rey and a 50 y/o Grogu.

Was Lucas just shoe-horning in goofy age rules in Phantom Menace to make Yoda ultimately appear on the right side of history ("I told y'all, we never even should have started training him!") in that he always found Anakin suspect? It certainly would explain the training age inconsistencies.

I thought about this too. One of the possible explanations I saw online is that the senate is still intact and it hasn't become the full blown Empire we saw in ANH. Meaning the Inquisitors have to be careful with how they treat non-jedi, which is evident at the GI getting pissed at Reva for chopping off someone's hand. Forcefully digging around in civilians' minds would probably be frowned upon at that time, especially with an audience there.

Enjoyed the first two episodes. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but not awful like some have been skyscreaming. Share most of the gripes others have said (mainly chase scene and Reva being annoying). The end to episode 2 was great with Obi Wan learning Anakin is still alive, saying his name, and then the cut to Vader in the bacta tank. Optimistic for the rest of the episodes knowing we are going to get a Kenobi/Vader encounter. Also will be shocked if we don't get a Reva redemption of going back to being a jedi.

The Emperor never dissolved the Senate. A lot of the hesitation about using the Death Star is R1 and ANH was to prevent the Senate from discovering it.

A prodigious kid doing extreme physical feats is pretty normal and believable in lots of fantasy / sci-fi type storylines.

Nowhere have we seen the force make kids impossibly wise. It felt like because Obi Wan is the wise master and because eventually Leia becomes this smart, strategic princess that they’re going to steer into it early and almost put them on even ground, and it felt impossibly unbelievable. To hear some 10 year-old lecture a Jedi master? Lol. That’s different than a kid with extreme reactions and the force winning a pod race (and even that and that movie is something we all laughed at).

yea. anakin was a year younger than leia in episode 1 and won a pod race after being sabotaged against adult alien life forms. he also stole a ship and saved padme and crew from droids and blew up a battleship.

yea leia chase was pretty awful with the kidnappers being thwarted by a tree branch and such, it couldve been done better, but it was just like 30 seconds. not a major problem, but couldve easily been foregone.
