I thought it was a much better actual story than frozen. Frozen just had a soundtrack that caused its meteoric popularity.

I still have not gotten a forensic analysis of why Frozen becme such a phenomenon.

Objectively, this movie was a billion dollar international blockbuster as every kid knew every song & all the characters.

Subjectively, they shouldn't have. The insane notes/vocal range by Idina Menzel was not reproducible by mere mortals, much less 6 y/o's & the academic lyrics (like "isolation", "fractals", "crystallizes", etc.) were not elementary/kid-friendly. The characters were seemingly too nuanced for children as it did not have the typical leads of a Princess or Prince saving or being saved by a paupered boy or girl. The "supporting characters" were actually the leads and the featured Disney Princess was the villain. The vocal cast was practically star-less. The target audience was directed at girls. I'm still baffled how this movie became a worldwide phenomenon.

The problem with Frozen’s narrative is Elsa was supposed to be the villain, but they rewrote her character after “Let It Go” emerged. They didn’t want a villain singing the best song in the movie.

Can't agree with this. Tangled is wonderful, and the live action remakes have been bad. No need to keep churning those out.

The frying pan will go down as one of the best "non-lethal" weapons of all time.

I think outside of the music, Olaf was also highly responsible for frozen’s popularity. As far as secondary characters he was maybe the most popular of all time besides the genie and kids freaking loved him. He carries most of the laughs in the movie and he was a very likable, gentle character for children.

Catchy music, strong girl characters, funny/cute side characters, pretty dresses.

It ain’t that complicated bro

Elsa is, objectively, the villain.

She freezes the town, then runs away while her subjects are starving in a frozen wasteland. Accountability? Not in this movie.

I agree, let Tangled be.

Its perfect where it sits in Disney lore.

I didn't realize it was on tap for a live action.

Mother Gothel was hands down Disney's best villain in decades. There was more dimension put into her character than most baddies. The best villains are those who have a method to their madness, and maybe even a tiny bit of redeemability to their character. Despite the fact that she used Rapunzel's magic to keep herself young, I always got the impression that Gothel did grow to care about her adopted daughter at least in some small way. It was kind of a Munchausen Syndrome type of situation, but rather than physically harming Rapunzel, she gaslighted her into believing that staying in the tower was for her own good, as the outside world was a very dangerous place.

All of this. She is so good because she's a lot more realistic than other villains. She acts how many toxic parents would act in that situation mastering manipulation.

??? Not sure how a pro Tangled thread turned into a bash Frozen thread but there is plenty of accountability. Ana nearly pays for her mistake of trusting a stranger with her life. Elsa almost kills her own sister and ruins both of their childhoods. They both realize their mistakes and are redeemed in the end, that doesn’t mean there was no accountability.

It’s a Disney princess movie did you want a treason trial and public execution?

The shorts on Disney+ of Olaf performing other Disney movies is legit funny as hell

Isn't it the most expensive animated feature film ever made?

Damn it is, great stat.

Just read the reason it was so expensive is because the animation was groundbreaking and they spend years developing it. The movie basically set up the look of their future animated films going forward.

Tangled is one of our favorites in this house but I will not stand for the Frozen slander.
