I'm about as anti-woke as people get, but I don't really care about one out of place guy if he's not forced in as a PC overture

Men played women historically, people of different races have long played one another historically, etc.

I know it's hard to draw lines on what's reasonable and what's not given how Netflix does this stuff, but I'm not sure it's worth getting too worked up over, especially given there isn't that much history of anything of the sort in CN movies.

Not really. It's an industry built on trust that someone will be able to do the job when the moment arrives.

Yeah except Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest movie composers in history so, if what you say is true, either Nolan is a douche or he is retarded

Memnon of Ethiopia: Memnon was a legendary African king and warrior described as a son of Eos (the dawn goddess) and Tithonus. He was considered a peerless warrior, nearly equal in skill to Achilles, whom he eventually dueled and was killed by after slaying the Greek hero Antilochus.

lol that dude is a dumbass. How the frick is a prologue for a story well over 2k years old remotely suspenseful when we literally had a damn blockbuster movie 20 years ago that told that story?

Too much soy in and around the entertainment industry these days.

Me neither. Red being played by Morgan Freeman in Shawshank being a good example. Couldn't see anyone else but him playing Red.

I'm willing to give Nolan the benefit of the doubt. If he was able to make Oppenheimer without obvious shoehorning DEI, he should be able to make a movie about ancient Greek mythology without it. It's all about proper context. Djimon Hounsou in Gladiator being a great example. Maybe Eliot Paige will play a eunuch,

So I guess we should sit and refresh the page over and over? They aren't lasting very long.

If accuracy matters, it should matter consistently. I don’t have an issue with diverse casting in general, but when a story rooted in a specific historical culture is changed in ways that only ever replace one group and never the others, it stops being artistic license and starts feeling selective. Ignoring that imbalance isn’t the same as not seeing color.

Ok so who else is with me and will read the Odyssey before seeing this?

I’m not a purist, nor have the patience for the original. This edition was recommended by the internet, so thinking of going with it.

quote:

Customers find this translation of Homer's Odyssey to be an epic poem that's easy to read. The translation maintains the poetic beauty of the original work, with one customer noting how each sentence flows together beautifully. They appreciate the story quality, with one review highlighting how it combines storytelling elements effectively.

Are those supposed to be the Myrmidons?

So Achilles is only invincible because he has super armor?

The Academy requires a certain amount of minority casting and crew for awards consideration. Nolan is working with what he has to.
