The pathetic deaths of Han Solo and Luke

Leia was just "generic military leader person #7"

No gravity to any of the characters at all

The only weight of Luke's character occurs when he isn't on the screen (ie TFA)

And now they are gone, and nobody can redeem the characters. . .because nobody outside of youtubers will have the balls to retcon the trilogy.

Just fills me with frustrated rage

Same here. Randomly get angry about it ever time I see one of the sequel movies on the guide.

The sequels weren't actually sequels. It was an attempted reboot they called a sequel trilogy.

The attempt failed, miserably.

this is true, but I can't even blame them for that. the core 3 were much too old to try to continue the series going with them as the leads (as evidenced by a certain death midway through)

the mistakes were how they executed it

They should have passed the torch more gradually. They tried to force it and it made it feel disrespectful and unearned.

Those core characters aside, the way the new characters were treated is also horrible.

Finn should have been allowed to sacrifice himself.

Kylo went from being a formidable enemy to a whiny child.

Hux was emasculated so badly, I’m surprised they didn’t change his pronouns to she/her.

Rey was just poorly written all around.

Poe became a cheap Han Solo knockoff without the rebellious nature.

or be integral to the story at all

He became a background character after TFA

Carrie wasn't supposed to die. That's the fatal flaw in their grand plan.

You see, they subverted expectations by NOT putting the big 3 together in TFA. I'm 100% certain they wanted to wait for the next movie or the 3rd.

Because Disney Star Wars never had any clue of what it has and can't for the life of them tell a story. It's 100% garbage. And other than relying on memberberries and recycling old stuff, they are witless.

Never saw TROS, so I don't even recall (nor care) how General ( ) Leia died. Did she just never wake up from her Space Mary Poppins coma? That was so fricking cringe.

Disney Star Wars died long ago.

I remember watching that scene in the theatres and audibly laughing. What a hunk of shite that movie was and always will be.

Have you ever thought about that number? Im 58 and Id say 14 was probably about right for a starting date

It may take some calculating but I think I could guess my number within 200 times

I'll never forget going to watch The Last Jedi at midnight back in 2017.

I remember during the movie looking around to see if anyone was hating it as much as I was.

After the movie it was a dead silence. Felt like a funeral. But since it was 3 in the morning and we all had to go to work on Friday, I was guessing people were just tired. I didn't want to say how much I hated it at the time because I figured I may be the only one and didn't want to be a wet blanket

But then, at work that morning we all discussed how much we hated it. Glad I wasn't alone.

Never even bothered with The Rise of Skywalker. Never saw it, never will. Nor have I seen any of the other new Star Wars movies from Disney. I hated it that much

Thank Kathleen Kennedy. The Sith Lord of LucasFilm. "The Force is Female." Yes, but your audience is 90 % male.

I knew no such thing. We were all super excited. I talked my way around all the flaws in TFA, thinking it was building to something great.

The TLJ happened.

Then everyone knew.

I still haven't watched Rise of Skywalker all the way through. . .no.r any other property that gives me a TLJ vibe. . .looking at you Ahsoka

Same. Zero interest. I’ve seen the Pitch Meeting for it and that’s sufficient. Seeing the Pitch Meeting instead of the actual movie is super easy, barely an inconvenience.

IMO, a ST to the OT was a mistake in itself that was made worse by poor execution. At the end of ROTJ, the Rebellion had just destroyed the greatest evil in cinema history and all the key characters appeared to have super bright futures ahead of them during their celebration party on Endor. They should have left that alone. The story of the Skywalkers was told.

I personally think they should have gone into the distant past or future and filmed a trilogy with all brand new characters and/or some from the EU. Nothing within at least a century of the Battle of Yavin.

Speak for yourself.

When it was announced back in 2012 that Disney had purchased Lucasfilm most fans were absolutely thrilled given how Disney had handled the MCU up to that point. The Avengers had just been released in theaters and comic book movies had never been more popular. Most people thought that Disney would bring the same love, care, and faithfulness to the characters to Star Wars.
