Fam and I watched all 5 episodes and very much enjoyed. It’s higher production too, btw. Video and audio are noticeably improved. Even a few decent atmos scenes.
Didn’t know Cavill was leaving. That sucks to hear.

Episode 5.
Thought I was watching Westworld again. Timeline switching, convoluted plots and dialogue that often made no sense. Season was pretty good until that idiotic episode.

I had to re-watch E5 to try to figure out what was going on. It's also jarring when a 15 minute game sequence is played out into an entire episode.

That doesn't make much sense. Watch it BECAUSE Cavill is in this season, then simply don't watch when he's gone. Bowing out now will just allow Netflix some wiggle room in saying "See? Ratings were going down while we still had Cavill so the continued decline had nothing to do with him so there's no reason to ever try to bring him back."
I enjoyed the episodes thus far. I hate that they've split the season because they hit the split as the story was really moving well.

I'm a fan and was excited for the season, but these first 5 episodes were very underwhelming.
Caville is very invested in the story and his character. He's been reported to rewrite scenes because they were not authentic to the source material. He will be missed.
Jennifer will have to be "the butt nekit mage" for me to watch season 4.

Yeah episode 5 was terrible and really aggravating to watch. Really annoying to have that episode as the first half finale.

Was it ever awesome?
I wanted it to be.
I hoped that eventually it would be even if it wasn’t at the time.
Some of the elements showed promise that it was building that way.
I don’t think it’s ever gonna actually get there now with Cavill leaving and the obvious disdain they have for the source material.
I think the Nivellen episode was as close as it ever came to being what I had in my mind from the books. Maybe the episode with the Djinn in the neighborhood as well?
Narcissist writers had to reimagine the material to be what THEY wanted it to be, not what it was or what the fans wanted.
So we end up with time spirals and gay Dandelion plus characters who don’t act how they were in the books all because the writers and producers wanted to make a show for a book series they don’t even like for money or out of what can only be described as spite.

I don't think this will be an issue. Their entire marketing campaign is "He's still in Season 3!"

I thought the opening episode of season 2 was good. But was the series ever good as a whole? Cavill quit because of the show runners dislike of the source material. The current thing diversity casting takes you out of the universe, and the elevation of an actors race, above their merits as an actor was a drag. The black magician was not a good actress for example.
