Season 2 of FNL was a shite show b/c of the writer's strike

Oh shite…who’s going to remake existing movies and destroy existing IP?
People are really telling on themselves about how little they have any idea what they are talking about.
Writers don’t greenlight tent poles. If they had the ability to do that they wouldn’t be striking right now
You’re literally rooting for the side that’s pushing the remakes and tent poles

Didn't people like Shrinking? Or Severance? Abbot Elementary, Kobra Kai, and Yellowjackets are all likely to be affected.
Of course. But there are so many shows I haven't watched yet that I would like to that I could easily fill up my viewing time without new episodes of anything.

On the flip side I’m 99% sure this led to Jesse Plemons successful career after FNL.

Will the NFL be able to play with out scripts?

I truly don’t understand this line of thinking.

I think they think the writers are responsible for the poor writing we see so often today and don’t realize most of them are just working stiffs following orders. The shows they don’t like usually go off in disagreeable directions much higher up the chain than writers.

There are still some good shows out there that could also suffer. It won’t just be the ones we dislike.
And not just shows. Movies as well. I’m really excited about some of the ones coming out in the next couple of months that are ready to go but are we going to have another drought just as folks are getting back to theaters on a larger scale?
That would absolutely suck. Not every single new show or movie sucks.

I am for the writers here, but I fear their bargaining power is weak. I’ve been watching old sitcoms on Hulu and peacock and there is a ton of content.

Yes there are lots of bad arguments IIT.
But, on the other hand, the one really good argument is the saturation of content, one. Not only do most people have months of content queued up, but there is also an abundance of availability of content from outside the US at their fingertips that wasn't available in 2007.

And that’s fair, the industry has shifted drastically since the last strike, which in part made this strike happen and makes this one a harder one to leverage. But at the same time their needs to be a reckoning on Hollywood accounting, fudged streaming numbers, and all this other accounting magic studios use to take home a tax free couple billion while finding loopholes to to give their cut to guys like the writers and others. Can’t just be like “oh well” if you’re the writers in that situation getting screwed there
But really I was simply speaking to the brain deads who are rooting for the writers to lose in this thunder dome because they seem to think that writers sit up in an ivory tower with billions of dollars and send down comic book movie scripts for the poor unsuspecting movie studios when the reality is much closer to the inverse

This one will likely be a while.
1) Not that many weekly shows out there that are "appointment" television that would be missed.
2) this is coming at the end of the season for most shows, which have already been written and filmed.
3) with all of the streaming services out there, there is an endless resource of content to fill time/watch for viewers.
4) sports are technically unscripted and you have NHL and NBA Playoffs going on right now - as well as baseball season.
gonna be long, and gonna be ugly

You are living through the golden age of television.
Some of you are delusional.

Networks love this because everything has halted. Not spending any money and companies still have to run commercials on reruns.
