Solid post addressing the facts, not resorting to witless ad hominem attacks.

Do you work for Jimmy Kimmel? Did he eat the world?

I agree with you Sun God.
Jimmy Eat World definitely has a Power Pop sound on occasion.

I don't know why Howard Kaylan has never gotten his due as a R&R vocalist.

Hear ya. He and Micky Dolenz (another guy who never gets credit) were the voices of rock memories circa '66-'68. The Turtles were great.

Singing happy, sunshiney feel good tunes probably hurt him there.

Probably. Thanks to snotty critics and The Rolling Stone. Same of Dolenz and a ton of other vocalists and groups (like The Association) during the feel-good / innocence of the Sunshine Pop era. Most of that era's genre still endures imo.

Throwing out something that could possibly warrant some discussion. I’ve felt that “Interstate Love Song” by STP might qualify as a Power Pop song.
It’s on the poppier side of STP’s catalog, and it’s definitely not what I would call grunge. Maybe?

I figured it might be a close call. I’m well-versed in Power Pop going back to The Who, The Beatles, Rundgren, Raspberries, Big Star, Cheap Trick, etc. I’d even throw Slade and The Sweet in for good measure.
“Interstate Love Song” just popped into my head the other day and I thought I’d get some opinions.

Go all the way- the Raspberries. The very definition of power pop.

This is a perfect power pop album. I've already posted about them in this thread but it gets better each listen. They nailed the garage band edge in a catchy power pop sound. Apparently the lead ended up marrying a Terrebonne Parish girl and moving to Houma and is the owner of The Boxer & The Barrel, a downtown bar with live music.

Phil Seymour was in a duo and agreed to call it The Dwight Twilley Band

I'm not sure if even Ian Stewart would have agreed to that
