TBH the Lakers are probably significantly worse with 50 million worth of LeBron on their roster. I want LeBron on the Lakers for as long as possible lol

Not in the short term. If LeBron left, they'd have to start a rebuild from scratch, and they'd still be a bottom-ten team for the next couple of years, which would suit us fine.

I mean…if they let Westbrook and Lebron expire that’s like 90 million dollars coming free in cap space, they have Davis, and they do have a pick in 2023 (swap), and either 24 or 25.

We’d rather a decrepit no defense playing injury riddle drama queen be taking up 50 million in space.

I'm not arguing against that -- I just think that our picks are going to be good either way.

That is the way out for the Lakers. Hire a solid NBA assistant, run it back with LeBron, Westbrook and Davis and hope you get lucky with health and they get hot in a playoff series or two. Then let LeBron and Westbrook walk and go after a big free agent to build around and team up with Davis.
Of course, they’re going to do the opposite of all these things.

Yep, the Knicks plan…

Continue mortgaging your future to get shitty players today.

To sum up how badly the Knicks fricked up, Zeke traded two future firsts to the Bulls for Eddy Curry.

Curry ate his way out of the league and was pretty much exiled from the team for being too much of an attitude problem.

Those picks? A 2nd overall that became LeMarcus Aldridge (swapped to Portland for Tyrus Thomas at #4) and Joaquin Noah at about 7th overall.

Not a bad return for a fat frick who refused to get medical testing done on the possibility he may have a congenital heart defect.

It's great seeing Caruso absolutely take over the game tonight on the defensive end.

I decided to take a look and see what Lakers Reddit has to say right now:

quote:

Watching Caruso’s perimeter defense is making me incredibly sick. L lakers giving him up

quote:

He just dominated the last 3 of 4 possessions on defense. Steal and 2 offensive fouls drawn. God I miss him!

quote:

He's killing it right now. Straight up guarding Giannis, wrecking Jrue and making Middleton brick. fricking Jeanie Buss and this FO is an embarrassment for letting him walk. frick you Jeanie

Jeannie is stupid but I lay the blame on LeBron and Rich Paul.

Only one guy from last year’s supporting cast could get paid and it was a Klutch guy and not the white boy who could shoot and guard.

He wanted to return and asked them to match what Chicago offered and they lowballed him.

It's not either or, it's both.

Lebron wanted Russ, he certainly owns this. But it's on Pelinka and ownership to simply tell him no if it's not the right move, and it clearly wasn't.

It’s a circular firing squad over there.

Jeannie is goddamn retarded and thinks they will be winners simply because they are the goddamn Lakers.

LeBron and Rich Paul want control and don’t care what damage they do to the franchise to cement their power.

Pelinka is doing all kinds of stupid shite because he will be out of a job if he doesn’t.

Per Marc Stein:
quote:

Yet it has since been conveyed to me that the Lakers have more boundaries than advertised when it comes to weighing Westbrook trades. One league source said that injury histories would be a prime consideration in any deal, given how injuries have so routinely intruded upon the last two seasons for both 37-year-old LeBron James and 29-year-old Anthony Davis.

Translation: The Lakers are unlikely to consent to a Charlotte trade headlined by Gordon Hayward — not after Hayward’s first two seasons in Charlotte have likewise been injury-filled…

He mentions Hayward but oft discussed option John Wall has only played like 100 games the last 4 seasons(granted he sat at home presumably injury free this season). Russ is terrible there but at least he plays when Lebron and Toni are out.

Who does that even leave available realistically? They have no assets and an again Westbrick, I just can’t see a trade they find if they wanna be selective

Hayward still owed $60MM, is probably washed up at 31 and is about as far culturally from LA as you can get.

lakers should trade for him immediately

Only trade besides the Hayward and Wall ones I've heard thrown out was Brodgon and Hield for Westbrook and far future 1s. Even though they're kinda overpaid Brogdon is expiring after next year and Hield only has two years left but with decreasing salary. Feels like the Pacers should be able to get some picks that are within the next 5 years for those guys from other teams.

Brogdon is pretty injury prone too

36 games this year
56 games last year

The return is nowhere near what they gave up and I'm here for it

That would be a good trade for the lakers and bad for the pelicans. If they stay somewhat healthy then Brogdon, Hield, Lebron and AD is a significantly better roster than what they put out this year. Of course they will have some injuries with that group but injuries would be the only thing that would hold them back from returning to the playoffs. Ideally nobody trades for Westbrook and the short term collapse continues

We are swapping picks with the Lakers next year. They are way too injury prone at this stage. Do we really believe Lebron and Davis are playing 65-70 games each next year?

If they are smart, they run it back next year to get the two big contracts off the book. Then you have a 30-year Davis to build around. The reality is we are probably getting their pick for the next three years. It’s glorious. They are totally screwed.

Not sure how we could with his 20M+ salary.
