Golden State is bad without Steph. This isn’t some huge win, but pundits will make a big deal out of it.

I'm resigned to the fact that we're going to finish around the same area in the standings as the Lakers, basically making the pick swap worthless, which would be an abject failure of a season if it comes to that.

And the Lakers are bad without Lebron. It's a good road win, especially when the Lakers had so many new pieces.

I was bullish on the pick until they pulled this shite off. Figured they’d wear themselves out and just shut it down

Your point? Two bad teams meant one was going to win. Warriors are a team reliant almost entirely on jump shooting and threes. When they are off, they will lose even to the worst teams. Take out Steph and it is even harder.

I guess good win for the Lakers, but they beat a team that likely doesn’t make the playoffs if Steph doesn’t come back. He is what made them go and always has been, especially with Thompson a shell of his former self.

The Lakers got better, and that's a problem.

They had no lebron and played 4 guys who’ve been with them a few days

They are like the Pels, their backs are agsinst the wall. They have to start reeling off wins. Every win is a big one.

I think they said GSW was 9-8 without Steph. They are respectable

Also, Warriors have the same record as us and are battling injuries just like us. So if you don't think they make the playoffs...

ETA: Warriors also have a better record in the west and a better home record than us.

Warriors have been awful on the road and had nowhere near the injury problems of the Pelicans until recently. They were awful at times with their full roster in the first half of the season. Then they’d sit guys for stretches like they did against a the Pels.

I am not saying the Pels are better than the Lakers. My point is people will make a bigger deal out of this win than it means.

Orlando beat Denver the other night, does that mean they are improved?

Also, having 4 new guys also means the other team won’t have film on how they play together.

In the end, Lakers are not a contender this season and still may not even make the play-in tournament.

My point is that we're likely going to finish around the same standing as LA. That would be a failure for us, not only because what our aspirations were for this season going into it, but also because it basically voids a part of the AD trade.

its not paying off because both zion and ingram are missing games. if the pels were cooking now and in the hunt for top 2 west seeds the deal would look better.

onward.

Ouch…

4 games back of being the 4 seed.

That’s hard words when there’s been a lot of movement/shakeup in a conference that most of the league can’t catch a break on what type of team they are. Teams will show their true colors after the all star break.

4.5, but it's also disingenuous to just say the number without the context that there are 8 teams between the Lakers and the 4 seed.

The Lakers have a 0.0% shot of winning the title this season. None.

Tonight's game in Portland is especially important, as the Blazers are just 1.5 games ahead of the Lakers. LeBron is still questionable for the game with his hurting left foot. I think that tonight will tell us a lot about the Lakers chances of making the play-in.

He was but isn't any more.

From 2019 to 2022 he averaged 45 games played per year.

While is on court play at age 38 is unfathomable, injuries are one spot where age has caught up with him.

But look what he was on track to go if it was for about 3 mid level (not sure how to describe that) injuries. He was still going to play 75 ish games. Very few of his missed games were load management, like just a handful, that's incredibly impressive. The biggest injury he had in the time frame you're talking about was a 20 game span from a ankle sprain that wasnt even his fault, somebody dove on him. I'm not going to take credit where credit is due when it was something out of his control.

Point being though, if he's healthy, he's going to play. He's not just going to sit out 50% or whatever the poster said just because he is resting. He's not going to miss more than a few games.
