Coach Borrego putting in a lot of extra work with BI and Zion

LINK

This guy posts from practice a decent amount so I'll take his word for it that this is an unusual amount of extra work for these 3. For the conspiracy theorists, Willie is in the clip and back at work.

Another clip LINK

The people saying they can’t work together could not be more wrong. Yeah maybe when you have Val, Hawkins, and Dyson on the perimeter (1 person to pass to) it won’t work but we’ve seen it work with shooters around

Small ball closing lineup
Zion
Hawk
Herb
BI
Trey
I want to see it. Trey and BI should be big enough to control the boards if everyone is actually boxing

Yes we saw that they can definitely play off of each other on Tuesday and it looked very cohesive. Looks like we are expanding their actions/sets which will allow them to do it more frequently. Hopefully we can see the full squad by in December at some point.

Thank you Michael Jordan for being incredibly incompetent and firing Borrego even though he had a winning season with your shitty Charlotte franchise.

Jordan fired a coach who had their 3rd best season since 2004. It’s crazy how bad of an owner he is but I’m thankful since we get to reap the benefits.

This. There is no chance CJ won’t be in our closing lineups. Especially after we’ve seen how we stagnate in close games in the 4th with no point guard

I don't think the question is could they work, but would they work. BI has way more off ball game than Zion, which means he's the one that needs to adjust the most.

To his credit he's been firing up 3s almost willy nilly the last 2 games, so he's giving it a try, but can he get it to become his natural way of playing is the question we've been trying to answer for 4 years. And you're not going to have an answer after 10 games. You probably need more like 40.

Yeah, I thought about CJ after I submitted post. CJ just plays some terrible defense sometimes but that’s the only reason I’d have him on the bench for someone else. He’s great offensively. I remember in the Suns series a few years ago we were a better team with Jose on the floor and his defense

Jose had the 2nd worst Net Rating for Pels players in that series(only behind Jax, which I had nightly meltdowns over Jax getting minutes that should have gone to Trey), much worse than CJ's.

We played some of our worse ball when Jose was on the court in that series.

Yeah, we saw the first two games of the season that, when healthy, the plan is to keep BI and Zion on the floor together, and then to have CJ, JV, and the shooters play together.

One thing that will make the transition for him much easier is the way they're still getting BI the ball in spots he likes when he's offball and when he swings the ball and gets it back for a shot in rhythm. The only difference is he's letting it come to him through offball and ball movement versus forcing the issue.

The only big transition for him is to get away from the tendencies to overdribble, ball stop, and force a shot with no ball movement. That will come as he continues to get more comfortable with the offense and trust develops with the role guys.

Borrego now has a full feel of how Zion and Ingram play together, and is making adjustments.

It's gonna be exciting to watch these two guys grow. Forget all the Ingram hate this season. He has played a lot of really good basketball for us. He's already making adjustments to his game.

Please just remember sons, Ingram and Zion have played about 30 competitive games together in the past 2 years. They are allowed to get better and figure it out.

40%
36%
35.3%

The biggest difference is volume.

But that’s a massive differences

Of course percentages are going to be respectable when those two (Dys and Val) are literally only taking them when they are completely wide open.

I don’t think there’s any reason to believe either of them could shoot at that high of a clip on volume at this point

Nobody is asking them to, though. There's a big gap between Ray Allen 2.0 and "you can't pass to them."

You literally just said they can hit open threes. Is that not what you're looking for out of Zion/BI kickouts?
