I know y'all want to blame the front office and the medical staff but at the end of the day, it's Zion that's the issue.
The only thing the front office should be criticized for is not being stern enough in Zion but in the NBA you just can’t do that with “star” players. People are absolutely insane for even including David griffin and the medical staff when discussing this issue with Zion. Dude is an immature, entitled, out of shape clown and the sole reason for all of this. Accountability is a real bitch for a lot of people even the ones who defend him

You don't think CJ has tried having private conversations with him already? At some point, you have to put the pressure on a guy to grow up.

he came back in time to save our season
had he come back earlier, like when he was actually healthy, per the training staff, there wouldn't have been a need to "save" our season... we would have comfortably been a 4-6 seed, and wouldn't have had to try to play our way in...
BI is culpable in our demise, not to the level of Zion, but he's still deserves his share of the blame

Here's another quote

It's pretty clear a big part of CJ being here is to give Zion a model. It does not appear like it's worked and I don't blame CJ for that, there's only so much that can be done.
quote:
“Throughout my career, I have always been a player to do whatever it takes to help the team. I could have taken the easy way out and got surgery and sat and watched. I’m not that type of person. I’m not that type of player. Even though it affected my performance, I just went and competed the best I can. I’m always trying to lead by example."

the problem with Pels all season has been 3rd qtr,
yep... all season they were dogshit in the 3rd, and that's where they consistently lost games

Shot to the front office? Hell no bro not even close that was directed at one person and one person only and that would be Zion

The difference is Bi missed 30 this season. Zion misses 30 minimum every season

It reminds me of that old saying, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it stop eating pie.”

I think he called out BI too.
CJ, BI and Zion played 10 games together this season. That's with CJ playing 75 games this season despite needing thumb surgery.
Do the math.
I’m not so sure CJ was truly directing that at just one or two people. I think that was a franchise wide call. Obviously Zion and BI is a part of that number though.

No one will ever criticize a guy for trying to suck it up and help his team win when he's hurt. If anything it makes that person more loved, even when they fail.
I definitely would personally agree with this sentiment, but with the rampant CJ hate on this board, seems a lot here have a different take.

CJ knows Zion is being paid hundreds of millions of dollars to play a game and he can’t get his fat arse in shape. He has the money to hire a chef and trainer with nothing else to focus on but getting in shape. Zion is a lazy, fat, and immature. Pelicans need to cut bait and get whatever they can for him. He won’t magically change in the next few years.
There’s men/women out there working full time jobs and raising multiple kids who put more effort into staying in shape and this guy can’t.

Exactly frick the CJ haters. He wasn’t the problem but some on this board are too stupid to realize that.

quote:Except that you are making that up. He is at the facility and has been at every game. Maybe you should go to a game sometime.
Because Zion isn't in the Locker Room with them so this was the best way to get the message across since he doesn't show up at the the SKC or the practice facility.

Assuming he did, he didn't call Zion out by name, so I see no issues with saying this to the media if he did say it to Zion as well.

"We've got to do what we need to do off the court in terms of preparation, having the right type of diet"
I never read BI having diet issue. CJ clearly speaks for Zion.

But...
Griff and company get paid a shite ton of money and their job, their responsibility is to get him to buy in. So if they can't, I do believe they are also failing at their job. It may not be fair, but that is their job, to figure out a way.
