That’d be like the Pels getting Kevin love for You riding?

They're really not.

Spurs are still good and competitive. If we were a playoff team every single season, i'd be more than happy getting back an All NBA player this offseason for AD.

No, but I also don't think its the same situation at all, I don't think Kawhi will have remotely the same market as AD, and I don't think the Spurs and Pelicans have the same ideas on what a "good haul" is (ie, I think the Spurs wanted to stay around the same level, not rebuild or go young).

If I were the Pels, I would play hardball with Klutch. Either they STFU and we can make a deal that works for both sides or I trade you to Cleveland or Phoenix and I don’t care if I get back less than the trash the Lakers are already trying to send.

I'm glad you're not the Pels.

Would you just take a low ball offer from the Lakers if AD/Klutch says “he will only sign with the Lakers?”

If for whatever reason AD was able to dictate Lakers Only AND they are holding back, then you get Clippers involved, not pretend spite trades like Cleveland and Phoenix. The Nuggets did the same thing playing the Knicks against the Nets over Carmelo and got a lot more out of the Knicks because of it.

I guess what I’m saying and not conveying it properly is that I would play hardball back. I wouldn’t let them completely dictate the situation.

cool well then let the Lakers wait until 2020 for AD. Sorry they don't have the assets so we shouldn't be forced to eat their scraps because....bron. If you want to dictate the team you play for, then wait for FA.

That package of mediocrity hurts us more than helps us long term.

Well, if we're at next year's deadline and the best offer we can get is from the Lakers, and it does provide assets, then yes, I'd obviously take that offer.

I'd never let any player walk for nothing if obtaining assets were a possibility in this scenario.

And you play hardball by finding other options, which fortunately the Knicks and Celtics appear to be legit other options. If those 2 fall through the Clippers plan this summer is to go after 2 max players, so they'd probably give you everything they had for AD. They just don't have much of a rebuild package to offer or they'd already be listed with Boston and the Knicks.

I just read that Porzingis would have to be traded before the deadline if he were to be included in a deal. That’s a big factor I would think?

right now (2 days post-AD) it's all sunshine and rainbows...AD is a good guy, dont blame him, he did all he could, was looking for reasons to stay, blah blah blah...

this has potential to get really ugly, really fast.
IF rich paul made this trade demand thinking that the trade would happen at the deadline, he (and lebron) have truly lost their minds

This is exactly why Boston will be all in and is the Pels trump card. AD sure as hell can't attract other FAs here, but he'd keep Kyrie in Boston.

Also, as frustrating as this tampering across the league from LeBron is, it's not going to stop because all of this player movement drama is good for business.

Unless something crazy happens, I’m sending AD to Boston or NYK. They are in the East and have the most to offer.

Period.

AD was selfish and demanded a trade. Now it’s the Pels turn to be selfish and do what’s best for the team.

That "Kyrie is OK with rejoining Lebron" really just opened the floodgates for a 3 way trade.

Kyrie to LA Lakers
Davis to Boston

Allows the teams to bypass the rose rule right?

Tatum to New Orleans
Lakers pieces distributed between Boston and New Orleans.
Boston pieces to New Orleans

Trade him before Feb 7th this year, and yea, i can get behind him being more open to playing for another team for a year & a half. The team that buys him gets 2 playoff runs with him, and extra time to sell him on staying.

That worked so well with Cousins.

If Kyrie is gone then the Celtics aren't sending us Tatum. Sending out Kyrie and Tatum in the trade would put AD in Boston as the only star caliber player. Why would he stick around for that?
