Correct. We are either in for a really long or really short night. No in between

Bufkin would be a solid pick. Jalen Williams-esque

Pels should package the pick and move it

Pretty much.
The number of times that trading down from one has happened is low to begin with. Where it has worked out well is also questionable.
The Magic traded down from 1 to 3 to get Penny Hardaway, which worked out for them, but the other three picks they got from Golden State for Webber were crap.
The Celtics had a horse shoe up their arse trading down from 1 to 3, as Fultz busted at 1 while Jason Tatum has been a star for them at 3. OTOH, the other pick they got out of that trade was Romeo Langford, which was not good for them.
At best, you get one good piece out of these trades and normally there is no one close to the first overall pick in value down the line OR there is no separation between first pick and the next few picks, meaning no value in first vs third, fifth, etc.

Refine that, please.
Package it with who or what and move where?
Get an additional veteran? Move up? Gamble on getting a good pick next year from someone by trading out?

I also think Wemby is the clear number 1 pick in this draft class, but I’ve basically thought for a year now that it would be impossible for him to live up to the hype.
I don’t think he’s particularly close to being the best prospect since Lebron either.
There are 5-6 guys just from the last 3-4 years I’d probably pick over him, especially with what we know about how they already perform on an nba floor.
Don’t get me wrong. I’d be excited if we won the pick. But I sincerely wouldn’t expect a championship level impact from Wemby anytime soon. He’d pretty clearly be the 3rd or 4th best player on the team behind Ingram, Zion and possibly Trey Murphy for at least a year or two.

This assumes Zion or Ingram is on the floor.

quote:Who since Zion? We are talking about a prospect coming out in the draft. You cannot take into account what they have already done in the NBA, as no one has that info at the time of the draft.

Could he play with Zion?
He plays PF. Everybody assumes he'll play Center, since he's 7'4. But that's not where he plays now and he needs serious gains to even attempt to play near the rim. There is video on Kenny Lofton beasting him in international play. Even Holmgren was able to body him up..

If you think Wembaya won’t eventually play center then I’d say that’s a stubborn way to look at it. He’s going to gain weight and get stronger.
Wembaya’s potential is a bigger more athletic Anthony Davis with better shooting and dribbling. There’s a reason he’s being hyped.

Why would a Center need to be a great shooter or dribbler?
Everybody he gets compared to, Davis, Giannis, Porzingis.. they are all PFs, that don't want to play Center.

Just that easy?
I get it, you are projecting. But this is the exact same debates we had last year with Holmgren. It's super early, but the results don't look great so far. Why are people doubling down?

I just ran simulations on tankathon. Took me 42 attempts before we landed in the top 4.
We got the 3rd pick. So yeah, I'm not feeling too hopeful lol

quote:Hope he goes to an Eastern Conf team. Before the season, many felt the NBA promised Pops the #1 to keep him around for the Spurs rebuild. Let's see if the conspiracy theory plays out. Think how good the Pistons rebuild will be going if they add Wemby to Cunningham, Ivey, Duren, Wiseman and Hayes. Maybe we could pry a young big man from them. Same with Hornets.

Only 27 for me, so we are trending in the right direction. It's time for Griff to play some piano and work some magic.

took me about 100 times to get into the top 4, but it was the #1 pick once i got it.
I also counted 8 times that Toronto got a top 4 pick before we finally got one.
