I would have thought you would realize that is completely irrelevant as the trade would not be consummated until July 6. Not sure why you would even bring that up as something that would dictate a trade date.

Pretty sure AD for Tatum, Smart, picks, filler like Yabusele and Robert Williams can happen as soon as Kyrie fails to opt in to his contract at its deadline on the 13th.

LINK

Teams are free to make trades again once their season has ended, but cannot trade players whose contracts are ending or could end due to an option or ETO.

I was under the impression that his contract ran the entire league year and therefore could not be on the roster at the same time as another Rose rule player. Even if he opts out now, I thought he was considered on the roster until the new league year. That understanding may be wrong.

And how many of these players were sub 50% on FTs? How many were even bad at them?

How did he just become a terrible free throw shooter? He wasn’t as bad in college, so how does a player go from 67% to 41% in two years? There’s gotta be some sort of variance factor in there due to small sample size.

He missed more games last year than he made FTs.

So strange.

Doesn't matter and will not matter when deciphering if he will be a good 3point shooter or not.

His sample size of 3pointers attempted (523) to FT attempts (119) is so much larger, it should be looked at independently.

I mean, you can interpret it how you will. But would be silly to act like they correlate. As bad as he has shot from the FT line, his 3pt % is still way better than anyone that has shot FT's that poorly. He's already an outlier.

LE is McNamara alter

quote:

At 21

Kyle Lowry - terrible 3pt shooter (25%)

Serge Ibaka - 0 for 1 in 2200+ minutes that year

Marc Gasol - wasnt in the league yet. Didnt start taking them until he was 32

Danny Green - IN G League. Shot 27% from 3 at 22

Norman Powell shot 28% just last year

Kawhi was hitting off the catch, with Chip England working on his stroke, but couldnt create a 3 and hit off the dribble. 98% of his 3's were assisted on in his first two years. 88% of his total 3's in SA were assisted.

This year, it was just 67% and only 52% in the playoffs.

It is very possible that a bad shooter stays a bad shooter, but it is the skill that is most likely to improve. And far more likely than basketball IQ, court vision, passing ability

If Ingram and Ball never showed the ability to hit shots, I would be pessimistic. Example - I have zero faith in Ben Simmons ever becoming even average.

But I have seen enough and believe in their work ethic enough to believe they get to at least average

Tyreke Evans was a 27% 3pt shooter in his first 5 seasons. Got up to 39% in season 7. Shot 40% from 3 in Memphis. There are literally hundreds of examples I can point to. But since people hate the Lakers, their players suck and wont improve

Mate there's countless amount of research on how FT% is a better predictor of 3p% than anything else.

It matters a metric crap ton.

Lonzo has a very unique shooting motion, outliers exist.

Since you’re into looking at stats, can you tell me if there has ever been a player that has shot 41% from the free throw line and 33% from 3? I’ll hang up and listen.

he’s been consistently skeptical of Tatum and I agree with anyone who points out the discussion of ball and Ingram has been one sided and influenced by distaste for Lebron/klutch/Lakers

the #4 pick changes the lakers best offer dramatically and that should be obvious. The offer is better now than it was in February. Personally I’d be fine with just ball, Ingram, #4 and a future lakers pick. They can keep Hart/kuzma/whatever. This assumes that the Knicks don’t improve their assets, the Celtics hold back on “all” and no other team swoops in to grab Davis for a try at what Toronto is doing

How many 45% FT shooters do you think have ever made 40% of their 3’s over a 140 shot sample size?

Better yet how many over a 500 shot sample size have ever made even 31% of their 3pters?

He needs this board more than this board needs him.

I said that a long time ago and a few of his stans replied and thought I was crazy.
