---I'm pretty sure the entire league has figured it out & it's gonna be impossible to get any kind of decent return by trading either one...or both...of them.

---Guess Zion could always decide to grow up and lose a bunch of weight & decide to actually "try" on defense...slim chance of that happening while he's with the Pels.

---Probably even less of a chance for BI to improve. He's set in his ways...a terrible "style" for today's NBA. And he is NOT gonna change. Actually makes other players on his team "worse" when he's out there. If we go ahead & pay this guy what we'll have to pay him...the Pels totally deserve another 5 years of misery.

---Batman & Robin...have got to go !!!

is it that obvious?

You're looking at a 3 game sample size. Last season when the 2 were on the court, we were legit dominant.

Just my opinion...I COULD be wrong. They might be the best "Batman & Robin" combo...in the entire league.

If so...I'm sure every other team is beating down our door...to try & trade for one or both...of them.

There are a few exit ramps between "best combo in the league" and "pretty much suck"

They don’t suck they’re just a terrible fit together.

BI's best 2 man lineup Net Rating last season was with Zion. They were elite together last season.

They also had a positive net rating 2 seasons ago, when we were 10 games under .500.

Hmm maybe we should just build around CJ? I’m joking but the link below shows how great CJ has been. BI and Zion nowhere to be found.

I don’t think they suck or that they’re a terrible fit together, I think a lot of the time they do not give a SINGLE shite about trying on defense or rebounding. And that’s when we suck. Zion should be grabbing 8-10 boards a game and many times through the season like last night he doesn’t try whatsoever on defense. A complete 180 from Zion at duke when I thought he was going to impact both sides of the ball. That was of course 25lbs ago also so maybe that doesn’t help.

All that needs to happen:

BI take more 3s and give a shite on D

Zion give a shite about defense and rebounding.

And all that shite on Twitter about Zion and BI both need to be traded goes away

Those things probably wont happen. Sometimes players are who they are. I think as games get more important they may try a bit more on D. But Zion wont rebound better and BI wont take more threes honestly.

But we've seen it happen. The SVG year and last year. When Zion is out of shape, and he starts every year out of shape, he's flat footed and doesn't try much on defense. Once he's played his way into proper game shape, his motor turns on and he becomes a solid to good defender.

You just can't judge the combo of BI and Zion right now because of Zion. Now if not having your star player show up until December every year makes you want to think about trading your star player, that's a completely different conversation. But what we are seeing right now isn't good data to use to judge what Zion and BI can be. In a perfect world the entire team is healthy in December and we get a good 20 games to see what they can and can't do. Then you can make some decisions about what direction to go at the trade deadline.

Like I said their defense will get a bit better. But Zion wont rebound more and BI wont take more threes. But again like you said let’s see.

At this point it definitely feels more likely negative than positive, like we're waiting to officially fail so we can move on, but you still have to go through the steps.

You also need to figure out what you need to get back for whoever you trade. That is going to be impacted by things like is Trey going to take that next step? Is Hawkins looking better than most expected for real? If those 2 work out, maybe you aren't looking for "equal present value" and trying to turn BI into someone like Zach Lavine. It sure feels like we need a mobile defensive 4/5 that's not a total zero on offense, more than we need to replace BI with a better fitting scorer.

The full set.

- Zion rookie season, 400+ minutes with BI, +7.7
- Zion year 2, 1200+ minutes with BI, +2.4(remember this is a 31 win team with Bledsoe leading in minutes, our supporting cast around the 2 were awful)
- Zion year 3 - He didn't play
- Zion year 4, 240 minutes with BI, +14.2
- Zion year 5, 80 minutes with BI, -4.2

So, can someone explain where all this talk on Pels Talk and Pels Twitter bros are getting the "BI and Zion don't work together" from? Are we really basing it on 4 games and 80 minutes and ignoring the previous 1800 minutes?

I literally had a “Pels fan” say he’d rather trade BI and Zion and just watch Matt Ryan and Jordan Hawkins because “they care”

We have THE dumbest and most overreactionary fan base in sports

A lot of people complain about Zion's rebounding, but in reality, how many would you expect him to get? He has averaged about 7 a game in his career. Maybe 8? He is not going to average 10 rebounds a game.
