Bill Russell? Wilt? Larry Bird? Magic?
Not even in the fricking discussion next to Jordan and LeBron?
The only other possible one you didn't list, Kareem.
But Lebron is clearly better than Russel/Bird/Magic. Wilt played in a different time that makes it tough to judge him. But if you're putting Wilt ahead of Lebron based on numbers, then no one can touch his numbers and you'd have to put him #1.
But I'll stand by this statement, if you think Lebron has zero argument or any 1 player is so much better in the GOAT discussion that Lebron "isn't close" then I do not think that person is viewing things logically.
Lebron very clearly and obviously has a really strong case for GOAT to the point that no one else's case is THAT much better that it's "not even close"

I had a LeBron Stan tell me with a straight face that LeBron is (and would be) a great GM because he’s won titles with all of the teams he played on. This guy didn’t understand that if he made the moves that he’s forced teams to make and he was a GM and not a player he would have been fired and probably never hired again
quote:Lebron must be a great GM because he chose to always have arguably the GOAT in every team he has ever put together!!!
I think this guy just assumed LeBron would do like he’s done as a player, make a ton of win now moves, win a championship, ruin the entirety of the team’s future, and then just get hired by another team, rinse and repeat. The big difference is that LeBron won’t have himself on all of these hypothetical teams that he would be the GM of

Yeah, I argue with idiots occasionally

He would have been safely number two or in the discussion for one if he hadn’t been transparently phony as frick on a number of things.
I mean who do you have ahead of him at #2. I cannot stand Lebron. Possibly my least favorite athlete of all time, but there is no way he is any lower than #2 and has a very legitimate case at #1, even now, before he inevitably breaks the scoring record.

Kareem and Jordan are my top two, but a case can certainly be made for Magic and Bird to be in the top 5. Statistics and longevity certainly play a big role in the discussion, but winning (league/conference finals) while being the best player on their respective teams' goes a long way for me.

That’s insane lol

Who? The guy who throws teammates under the bus and says they are not good enough to play with him?

Even putting Kobe above Tim Duncan is telling on yourself.

My top 5
Jordan
Kareem
Magic
Russell
Bird
Kobe is the closest to LeBron imo. Both required others to do a lot of the heavy lifting but get the majority of the praise. I think Kobe worked harder defensively.

Naaaah, you're not being rational or logical!

I didn't say that was an irrational take. Follow along, I was replying to another poster saying to think that a couple other big names were #2 isn't irrational either.
