Ace feels like the perfect fit for the hornets and I don’t mean that in a good way. Like yall said he’s a huge boom or bust prospect. I wouldn’t be mad if they loved him and actually did make moves to get ace but I’m skeptical
Regardless it would be nice for our FO to make a move for a guy in the draft that that loved

No thanks, Bailey has boom or bust all over him and we need guys that are ready to contribute now. Stay at 7 and take Kon or if you think Utah wants him try to move up for him. Kon is the easy choice here and it’s so clear that Dumars will no doubt frick it up.

Oh great let’s draft the next Brandon Ingram cause that worked out so fricking well the first time.

Might have worked better if Z would’ve been available to play in the playoffs and play in games.

Or if we didn't build a janky arse roster to "fit" with Zion then repeatedly ask Ingram to lead it without Lazy Fat.

We have a coach that hates rookies, doesn't like to play them, and doesn't like to develop them. He hates offensive players that don't play defense
Let's trade a very established vet for the biggest boom or bust player in the draft that is 100% offense
Sounds good

I’ll say this. if all it takes to go from 7 to 3 is #7, Herb, and the Indy pick to get a guy you love in the draft, that’s good value. Herb is worth a mid - late first at best and I don’t expect that to get better and the Indy pick is more than likely a late first as well.
You’re not winning with Herb next year anyway and he’ll only have one more year left on his contract after this upcoming season. I’d pull the trigger

I actually agree with you, I know we all love herb but he’s not the player that is going to elevate this team to a championship level. We do not attract elite free agents so imo we need to take swings in the draft.
If Bailey hits his ceiling then the franchise looks completely different and Zion can be a number two with the load taken off of him. At that point we could maybe compete for a championship, but continuing to run it back with the same roster just because we like guys like Herb and Alvarado isn’t going to get us there.

Yeah dumars drafted darco and that was horrible. Even in the moment it didn't make sense. But Detroit did just win the championship. They had all t starters in the all star game. They were clearly a great team. It's not like they were a 10 win team trying to rebuild. I'm not forgiving him for the horrible pick. But he did build a great team before that.

And if Bailey ends up a bust and Herb gets back to his DPOY level with another team? You have Dyson all over again on these boards. Trading herb and the assets in a package is fine but it needs to be for a big fish. Not the leftover of a two man draft. Reeks desperation and poor planning.

Say what you will about Herb's value to this rebuilding Pelicans squad, but he is a very valuable asset on the trade market and using him to move up a few slots in the draft is ridiculous. Even if it is from 7 to 3.

If Bailey busts and Herb returns to his dpoy level then we are exactly where we are right now anyway, not competing for championships. Hanging out in the middle because you’re scared of looking dumb in a trade is the worst place to be. I also just don’t see a big fish who’s realistic that makes sense. Personally I’d rather only give up Herb and take a swing on ace than giving up herb and a boatload of picks for 36 year old Durant.

Please don’t give next’s lottery pick for this kid. It’s not worth it

They won the Championship after they drafted Milicic. They won it his rookie year.

I rather sit at 7 and draft a super high potential prospect in Noa Essengue who just measured in at 6'10 barefoot and a 9'2 standing reach without having to give up any assets and who has just as high of a ceiling as Bailey.
There's no reason to gamble on Bailey if you have to give up give up that much for him.

That’s fine with me too. Personally I’d take fears because I think he’s Maxey 2.0, I’m good with sticking at our spot and picking. I was just saying that I wouldn’t hate trading up to take a swing on maybe the highest upside player in the draft if it only costs herb and #7.
Posted on 6/14/25 at 12:03 am to Tigerjim09
Fears might be good, but he isn’t anywhere close to Maxey. Hate to say it, but he has a lot of what a bad Jordan Poole has in his game. Far from a can’t miss imo.
If he’s good Jordan Poole, that’s a hit, if he’s the bad version, that’s disgusting.
