You have specific examples to back this up?

What constitutes bad defensively if letting any and every player go right by you with little effort the entire game is not bad?

It was a slow offensive start.

There should never be a game where Zion only takes 11 shots. Ever.

No pnr with z and b.i.

No inverted pnr with z/cj

These are your 3 best players. The frick

No he didn’t, and he didn’t close the game out b/c he was that terrible on defense. Didn’t matter who he was guarding, they’d blow by him every single time.

It was one of the worst defensive games he’s had in quite a long time and that is saying something. What game were you watching.

Thank god for BI and Jose and most of all Nance.

My comment isn’t a fat shame comment. It’s just watching the guy play and his movement and comparing it to Duke, his rookie season, 2nd season and now.

His vert is about 35 inches now instead of 48 inches

And he literally has no lateral movement agility on defense.

Some of it is effort. Some of it is injuries. The only way to get to his peak self, is to drop more weight. That’s undeniable.

He looks good and he isn’t fat, but the game is full
of small, quick, explosive, skilled guys that he cannot guard right now.

Losing weight will help his offensive game too.

Zion used to be considered the most athletic player in the entire league

He might currently be our 3rd or 4th most athletic guy on the roster and he has the worst lateral agility.

There is a reason why Morant is on sportscenter every night. He’s a special, effortless athlete with insane motor similar to Duke Zion. Current Zion is an above average athlete with a below average motor.

If he wants to be the face of the league, he can’t do it at this size. Maybe he could before the injuries. He can’t now.

He jumped a passing lane and got a steal late and that's about all I remember for positive plays.

It's not bitching to point out what basically everyone else saw happen.

He was terrible on defense.

I think the lack of film on the Warriors reserves threw them off defensively. We usually have a clear game plan on the defensive strategies to stop the opposing teams from doing what they want to do.

Seems like we played Poole the way we wanted to but didn't prepare well for the other guys.

You’re missing 2 starters and it’s Game 3 of a long west coast road trip. I’ll give the Lakers game a pass. Possibly the Atl game too since it’s a segababa

I’m talking over the course of 5-10 games.

Yep, pretty much. A couple of played here and there but an entire games worth of little to no effort and guys like Ty Jerome easily blowing by him for layups.

Kuminga did it a few times.

Willie Green said he’s check with trainers but wasn’t aware of any Zion injury that held him out late. Zion looked like he motioned to the bench with 3:37 left and exited the game, briefly spoke to the trainer and then stayed on the bench for the rest of the game.

Dude, im going to need you to post clips of zion's good defense. Everyone else in this thread clearly sees that he was terrible. What are you seeing that we arent?

Did you watch the same game? He was terrible on D tonight.

Yes I did and he was not terrible at all. He certainly had some bad plays, but overall he was fine. Had a great steal too when we were struggling on D. Heck, he had to best +/- of all the starters for those who rely on stats. People who only want to complain about everything he does will remember a few bad defensive plays and ignore any solid plays. You can come to the board and pick those posters out routinely.

Sadly, no one did a good job of stopping Kuminga and Jerome tonight.

You probably shouldn’t check Twitter tonight because it’s filled with people that cover the nba commenting on how bad he was defensively tonight.

He had a bad game on d. Very very bad. It’s ok to say it.

He’s still finding his way back so we have to expect games like this. Doesn’t mean it’s not frustrating.

I mean the dude still probably isn’t in basketball shape. He didn’t play for a whole year. If he still looks this bad at the ASG break then I’ll panic

I still don’t think him dropping more weight is the only thing that can help. I think there are other things he can do to at least be average defensively

More than a few, an entire games worth. Seems you're remembering the small handful of good plays and ignoring all the bad ones.

In fairness, it's virtually every poster but you basically on this one.

You're the only one saying he wasn't bad on D.

I think Kerr just did a great job of confusing Willie a bit in this game and Willie sometimes overreacted in his adjustments.
