If what we think is about to happen is about to happen, I'm pretty much done with Zion as a Pelican. Nothing personal against the guy, but he's basically a net-negative at this point to our roster.

I agree. More transparency would definitely help.
Way too cryptic and not forthcoming

You think he's a negative now? Wait till next year when he's making TRIPLE the money to play 25 games!

The medical staff has to be accountable here
this is the bigger issue to me.
We had BI sit out for 12 days b/c he ran into Naji's arm in the 3rd game of the season.
Then he sits out for 2 months b/c of a toe injury.
now we have a hamstring holding a guy out for 4 months.
Larry looks terrible
Dyson sat out almost a full calendar month from a sprained ankle.
We won't know how long Jose would have been out, but his stress reaction injury is normally a 6-8 week recovery. Had this happen earlier in the season, who would have expected him back in 8 weeks? it likely would have been 12 weeks at a bare minimum.
I don't know who on the medical team is responsible for all of this, but someone is. whether thats Nelson or someone else, i say fire all of them, and get the frick away from Ochsner all together.

I feel like if he had a setback, Shams or Woj would have been able to dig that up by now. Or maybe by tonight
Last year, the man's foot was broken for over a month and no one knew.

Nelson, the medical staff, and Oschsner need to be gone today. Totally agree with that. Same song and dance every single year.

I think Stan and Paul George are probably right about load management mentality being part of the problem, but isn't that what everyone is doing? How do we change when everyone is doing the same thing? I heard on a podcast recently that he last 5 years have had significantly more injuries than the Aughts and Teens. This article from 2019 showed it trending in that direction

The alternatives is drafting guy’s that play styles of ball that don’t lead to as many soft tissue injuries. Also avoid drafting guys that played a million AAU games in their childhood and have wrecked lower bodies before the age of 18 due to overusage and specialization.
Jokic
Sabonis
Sengun
Luka
Ground bound, skill based, euro players that aren’t trying to dunk on everyone for clout all game.
And if you draft a high flying American. Draft a guy that is built like Morant, Ingram, Mikal Bridges instead of a Defensive Tackle. I listed those 3 bc 2 of them still have injuries, but they still play more often than not.
You can add guys like Jaxson Hayes, Trey Murphy, Dyson, and Herb to the list of draftable body types as well.
None of these guys ever seem to get injured too significantly. And there is never an additional layer of recovery with them having to drop weight and get back in shape after an injury.

That chart indicates to me a few things. Pace of play/possessions per game increases correlate well with the increase in injuries. Also I suspect that back in the day, players either willingly played through nagging minor injuries or the training staff evaluations were less strict or strenuous and approve players to play with these minor injuries that today sideline players a handful a games.

Seems many have forgotten about zions personal chef…did he quit?
Also….BI held himself out extra after he was cleared to play..can’t blame the staff for that one.

without a doubt.
4 weeks for a fricking ankle sprain is ludacris. that's being overly cautious. 2 weeks is more than enough, even if you sprained it bad. and i've sprained my ankle playing basketball a dozen times, and even had surgery on it as an adult b/c of all the scar tissue around it.

Am I late to the party?
Did someone leak news that he won’t be coming back?

He looked really fat a week ago while warming up Before the Denver game
Shams got on TV 2 days ago and said there was no true timetable and referenced fitness and conditioning multiple times
Zion was missing from the bench last night
Team pushed back Zion news a day
People are just reading the tea leaves

I just think there’s no way they can possibly be dumb enough to think that waiting until tomorrow to announce he is out for the year instead of telling us immediately is a good idea
Posted on 4/5/23 at 5:15 pm to Terrific Tales
We have a home game today. We’re so desperate to make a buck that they’re waiting because it might help them sell a few more tickets to tonight’s game. It’s the only thing that makes any sense at this point.
Or it could be that Aaron Nelson is the biggest fraud idiot in the nba and we’ve given complete control over everything with zions injury, including any announcements about his recovery.

Is it really Oschsners fault? They just have the sponsorship and facilities. The doctors are the ones in charge.
I have been in a lot of hospital facilities, and the stuff at Ochsner is always nice behind the scenes. Probably the system with the nicest equipment across the board in LA.
