A quick answer to all this is just more shots for Murphy. Murphy played 39 Min against the Jazz, and went only 3/4 from 3. I wish he would have had 8 to 10 attempts. It should be a significant part of the gameplan to seek him out for these shots, especially if Zion/BI draw doubles down the road.
I mean the jazz we’re playing him close whenever he was on the floor. Yeah I would love him to take 8-10 but he can’t just jack up contested 3s just to reach those numbers. Trey also isn’t a great movement shooter yet. He needs to get set to shoot effectively. Pull up 3s and shooting off movement are areas he should work on

Sad thing is we had a lot of good open 3 looks, we just couldn’t hit it down yesterday. I know our bread and butter is second chance points and we should able to out rebound many teams. But damn, having another 3 point threat would make us contenders. I wish graham was consistent in that.

Ive been saying this forever.

Currently the only shooters that seem to be available are Duncan Robinson and Buddy Heild.
Duncan would likely be the cheaper of the 2 to get, Phoenix reportedly turned down Duncan for Crowder.

I feel like Malik Beasley, Doug McDermott and Josh Richardson are other options we can look at too. Bryn Forbes is another option but his sample is small compared to the other guys.

Definitely agree here. Come around that little screen from the wing where he gets the ball at the top of the key, then every one stands completely still and Zion goes to work.
Yeah I think THIS is what has irritated me the most through the first three games. The only ones who move even slightly to change position are JV and Nance but even then, it's not a lot.
But again, I do think as the year goes on, you'll see Willie incorporate Point Zion into the gameplan more and more as both get comfortable with one another and Z builds that on-court chemistry.

If we could get Richardson or McDermott and give up only Jax and Temple with 2nds, then I’d be all for it.
Looking at Duncan and Buddy they both have more than this years money owed, so we could probably get them without picks, plus Duncan is a hell of a shooter off the dribble which is something we need (that JJ type shooter)

Malik Beasley
Would like this one the most. Wouldn't cost us as much either.

Duncan Robinson is still terrible on D, right?

Yeah i like that one too. Like others said i like richardson and mcdermott. We could get Richardson and doug for graham temple and jax money wise. Idk how many picks they would want though

We are currently last in the league in 3p attempts at 25/game.
When your most efficient scorer shoots 100% of his shots near the basket, things like this will happen

The only people i really trust shooting is CJ, BI, and Trey.
2 snipers in the starting lineup, along with Jonas, who can make them at a good percentage on a low volume.
1 sniper off the bench with another capable shooter in Jose Alvarado. This is more shooting than the pelicans have had in over a decade.
Who do you move for more shooting? I'm willing to give up Graham, Kira, Jaxson, and Temple, but what could we possibly get in return? Any other scenario means parting with a valuable piece who we have plans for in the future.

We cant trade 2s for 3s against every other team in the league.
We can't trade 3's for 3's either. The offense is averaging 125 points per game. The "problem" has nothing to do with the offense, we have to stop the opposition to win games.
Also, if BI doesn't bang his head we're not having this discussion. There's nothing wrong with the team, we just have to get stops

The answer is Murphy. He needs to shoot a lot more. 5 a game is still too low for him. He should be averaging 7-8 a game easily.

When DD gets playing time, this will fix a lot of problems for us. He can defend 1-5. But you can’t go wrong replacing Hayes and DG with shooters if they’re available ane cheap. Spurs should be selling because they won’t be competing soon

I also think BI has been awesome defensively so far this year. By far the best he has played on that end in his career. I want herb to get up more 3s, he needs to be around 4-5 attempts a game.

BI. he's been awesome but he's one of our best shooters and only taking 2 3s a game. That should be up around 5-6
But if he can get to his spot in the mid range, which is his game, you encourage that 100% of the time. He’s an elite mid range guy. You don’t take that away. Now Zion shooting 3s is another question. Same with Jonas.

Personally I want Murphy developing more of his offense than just being a 3 point shooter. He’s got a high ceiling.

I think he has to some extent. He looks way more comfortable with the ball in his hand this year. Last year he looked awkward anytime he had to dribble. I think he is a little more comfortable attacking a close out now. I would like him to work on more movement and off the dribble 3s.

Bryn Forbes is another option but his sample is small compared to the other guys.
He's made 600 3's in the last 4 years at 42%.
Beasley has made 638 in the last 4 years at 39%.
McDermott has made 431 in the last 4 years at 41%.
Josh Richardson has made 439 in the last 4 years at 36%
Those other 3 guys have played 252, 263 and 252 games to Forbes 290 in that time frame, meaning he seems to be pretty damn healthy.
Bryn Forbes makes $2M/yr, and does exactly what we want DG to do offensively.
Instead of signing guys like McDermott and Forbes, as well as Zach Collins last offseason like the Spurs did, we were busy being an over the cap team so we could not get anything worth a shite in a S&T for Lonzo, and so we could give up a 1st round pick to get DG, who no one was bidding for nor was Charlotte going to match.
And don't tell me we needed Sato so we could do the CJ trade. We had salaries and more assets so it was always going to work.
I know you can't just magically sign whoever you want. They have to want to come here too, but you cant tell me we couldn't lure Forbes or McDermott here over SAS.

There's a video making the rounds on Twitter of 3-4 possessions that he was WIDE open and his teammates never even looked his way.
