Zion and a 1st. I would stop watching Pels. That would do it for me. That would show that we aren’t trying to win shite.

You and Shel have been waiting for Zion to live up to his potential for three years….all the while watching his value fade.

We are reliving the same madness every offseason….and I for one wish to move on and salvage this for as much as we can get. I’ve unfortunately lived this story out with AD already.

And all AD immediately upon trading him was to have a fantastic postseason while winning a title.

How does trading for an older and slightly less injury prone player while giving up a first round pick salvage anything?

Slightly less injury prone

Damian Lillard averages 69.9 games per year (plus he’s often played play in and playoff games). He’s also played for team USA at times.

His only time legitimately under 60 games, he played 28 games (he had abdominal surgery and was basically forced to do so, so Portland could tank). Last year, he played 58 games, but easily could’ve played 68 plus, but Portland was tanking.

Zion averages 29 games per year. He has played zero play in or playoff games. He has never played for Team USA as a professional.

Dame is older for sure. But let’s not act like Zion and Dame have similar injury histories/frequencies.

Dame is also consistently in shape and does not take a pounding due to his play style.

You can make arguments either way, but I wouldn’t frame an Anti Zion for Dame trade argument based on Dame being nearly as injury prone as Zion. Bc that simply has not been the case. Even the year where he played 28 games, he would’ve played that entire season out if absolutely necessary.

Some of our "fans" would rather not get their hopes up for any kind of real success.

I'll take the long term view, and if Zion doesn't work out we have YEARS to flip him for someone else.

if Zion doesn't stay healthy a few more years what could we realistically flip him for?

Do it or don't. Are you thinking you can avoid risk?

Ask the people dropping their hard earned money on tickets how much “risk” they’re ok with

The age difference only really matters if you think Zion is going to play for the pelicans for a long time.

I don’t. I think Zion has signed his last contract with the Pelicans. So the maximum window to win with Zion is 5 years . . . on paper.

But the reality is if we ever see healthy Zion, we are trading Zion before year 5 at the latest. So the real zion window is 3-4 years. That isnt much longer than the window would be with some old Dame desperately trying to land a ring before his looks fade forever.
