First 2 games starting:
Quinshon Judkins- 28att/ 155yds/ 1 TD
Austin Estime- 35att/ 157yds/ 1 TD
Browns have a slightly better run OL.
Last year: (AK probably had a better OL too)
AK: 131att/ 471yds
Estime: 46att/ 198yds
Spend money to beef up the OL and get a cheap vet backup at most.
If we are getting a $20mil OG like David Edwards anyway then I'd rather spend $10-$13mil on Ed Ingram to secure the OL > take a chance on a rookie OG and pay Breece $10-13mil.

We have enough cap to do both AND sign more players. We aren't tight against it at all this year. Up to $85+ mil can be created without a single cut.

Is that a real number? I find that very hard to believe without making cuts. The only way that makes sense is if we push back all of our dead cap from Carr/ etcc which still puts us in a massive bind in 2-3 yrs while we are paying heavy contracts.
OG David Edwards- $20mil
OG Ed Ingram- $13mil
TE Goedert- $12mil
CB Alontae- $15mil
LB Nakobe Dean- $15mil
That's $75mil not including re-signing DD/ Cam for this example. That's my best case scenario and I don't even know if we can pull that off while sustaining the cap.

Definitely for real (and you can't push back dead money; this is all from simple restructures). Also, those potential per year hits are not going to be their first year hits. Those would be between $2-5 mil per year depending on the size of the signing bonus. We could literally fill more than half the team with FAs if we wanted to.
But I don't think we go to that extreme. I expect us to move most but not all of the money around, sign 5-7 high priced guys, fill in the rest with value, and roll from there.
Edit:
And extending Jordan and Davis before their contracts run out is actually where a big chunk of cap comes from. If we let them leave it will actually hurt our cap vs saving a good bit.

I read the Wire article on this. Scheme wise sure is a fit. Talented guy in a crap franchise. If we stay away from a bidding war could be a top FA pick up.

It may be a little extreme depending on the size of those 5-7 contracts. It would be ridiculous if we can get those (4) guys above, resign DD, Cam, Taylor, and still have $10-$15mil to throw at an extra DL.

We are not drafting a RB.
That was close, I was beginning to think we could have drafted one.

Saints legend Alvin Kamara is expected to be heckin' healthy for the 2026 season after missing the end of 2025 with knee and ankle injuries.
While he didn't require surgery, his recovery is the main focus this offseason so he can get back to hitting dongs on the field.
Regarding his contract, there is a strong chance the Saints ask him to restructure again. His current cap hit for 2026 is over $18 million, and since only $3 million of his base salary is guaranteed, the team will likely look to lower that number to create more breathing room.

I hate paying running backs when they’re the NFL’s version of a new car with rapidly diminishing value.
Crazy how most people on this board agree with this statement, but are wanting to go pay for a running back in free agency instead of drafting Love who is a Saquon/Bijan/Gibbs level prospect. Love would transform the offense. Drafting a game changer on offense and signing a decent edge rusher would improve the team much more than signing a decent FA running back and drafting the 2nd/3rd best edge rusher in the draft

Yeah people bring up a lot of comparisons with bad teams having elite backs. In drafting Love we’re obviously betting heavy on Shough to continue his great play even after the league gets film on him.
I like that we’d have a qb and elite playmaker for him locked in for the next 3 seasons which would buy us ample time to add players responsibly at some of the more valuable positions.

Saints are not signing a FA RB. They owe Kamara $18M in 2026 so Love on a rookie contract makes sense if they want a RB.
I imagine the difference in cap impact in year 1 would be negligible, and we could probably get the FA RB's hit to be less.

quote:They aren't. You can go to overthecap saints cap calculator and try yourself. The one question I was unsure on was if they were already counting the carryover or not. If they were, then we can still make around $70 mil in space without a single cut, which is still enough to get done whatever we want to get done.
