Isn't Cams guaranteed money twice that of Chase?

Chase contract had 8 million of the guaranteed monies for per game bonus played. He played every game, all 13 million became guaranteed.

Does anyone have our DE's stats after Bryan Young took back over coaching them? I seem to recall Cam and Chase getting more sacks after that. He looked good in the latter part of the season. Not advocating for his return, but if he took a paycut and wanted to stay around to mentor our young guys while still producing at a decent level, why not?

My best guess is after this year…if the Saints are actually committed to. Leaving the salary cap issues up.

But it’s possible he hangs around for 2 more.

If the Saints are going to throw anyone a bone…it’s Cam.

But he is still a solid player to have as a backup. He is great to have around in the locker room with him rubbing off on the younger players with his charisma and knowledge

Not for a cap hit of f*cking $20 million. And he's still due over $12.5 million in cash.

The good news is that unless Loomis pulls another f*cking "Loomis" and extends his deal, 2025 is the last year of the gravy train.

Something has to give at some point. I love Cam, but there’s no denying his production has plummeted the past two years. And then this year he only played 48% of snaps in 17 games. It’s time to gently, and respectfully, nudge him out the door.

Was by design. To be honest, they probably should have been working him to that percentage 1-2 years earlier.

I have feeling they restructure/extend him one more year and hopefully adjust his salary accordingly. Adding 1-2 year can clear $8-9M against the cap, and if he is playing less than 50% of the defensive snaps, he can still bring value. I also suspect that last year, will be similar to Drew & Ram's last year. Put in place at vet minimum so he can retire on 6/02/2X and spread those bonus/void years over 2 years.

Teams all time leader in sacks that has dedicated more of his time to community than any other player and missed very few games.

13 yrs 138 million. That’s probably the best value the saints have ever gotten for a player over that amount of time (other than Drew).

He could have gotten far more elsewhere during his prime.

they are substantially differentiated with pressures and hurries.

Pressures and hurries just means he couldn’t actually finish and get a sack. It’s not like teams were throwing screens or hot routes. QBs had all day to throw against us. Guys like Cousin could just stand back and pick us apart.

The Saints were 30th in pass rush win rate and 30th in rush defense win rate. Chase Young wasn’t good. No spinning it.

But he affected the QB at a rate that was ranked heights in the league.

Affecting the QB is important, but I get you can’t pay him like a premier Edge getting double digit sacks per year.

IMO Young is a dame good player but not one that can control a game himself. If we had a legit 2nd threat at getting to the QB (Breese comes the closest but he’s still developing) Young wound see more sacks.

No he’s not good anymore and teams are not scared of him going into his 14th season.
My point was that it’s ridiculous to make a post just saying “when are we going to get rid of this guy” as though he has been a peice of shite.

100%, but I think people say shite like that because of his contract. Let's be real though, you can't blame Cam for signing that contract. Be mad at Loomis. Cam is probably done, but he's an all timer and I will forever be a fan of his.

Edit: I misspelled our GM's stupid name!

Cam has not been stealing money. Even if he’s long in the tooth he’s legit in more ways than one.
