Maxx Crosby is a top 10 player in the NFL. He is an absolute game wrecker. You add him to this defense and you have a top 5 unit. The cost is high, but his talent is undeniable.

Saints need to stay put, get your own defensive star in the draft and build , don’t wish and overpay in draft capital

Why would it be ridiculous? I'm sure he is looking for somewhere he can have a chance to win a championship as soon as possible. I mean the Saints should absolutely make a pitch for him but it wouldn't be shocking if he choose to go to an established team vs a team rebuilding.

Crazier things have happened though.

so you have direct knowledge like lacanfora and glazer? Why aren’t you on television?

You’re aware LV can be his home and play in another city?

He isn’t worth what you will have to give up to get him. If I’m the patriots? I give up a first and some change but, I’m not trading multiple firsts for this dude. He just isn’t worth it imo. We def shouldn’t be in the market for him.

Myles Garrett also said he was done playing in Cleveland, and then signed a massive long term contract only months later. Though this contract situation is different.

Things for Saints to consider:
-We are not in a full 3-4 year rebuild
-We have a QB1 that elevated the play of the offense
-QB1 with 3 years left on cheap rookie contract
-HC,OD,DC all coming back
-Defense got significantly better as the season went on
-Projected to have 8 draft picks in 2026
-Best cap "space" we've had in years
-NFC South has been a weak division the last few years

This makes us a legitimate option for vets looking to WIN in the next few years.
It gives us a window to take a big swings on a couple of high end veterans via trade or free agency that could have enough impact to change the outcome of a few games

Raiders get; 2026-1st (#8) and 4th, 2027-3rd, D.Carr
Saints get; Crosby, 2026-7th, 2027-6th

there is no fkin way we are signing some big ticket contract when things are going in the right direction without having to do it.

This is still a rebuild, even though it does appear they may cut the length down.

Ruiz plus a 2nd for Crosby

They might want 2 firsts if we ask them to take Ruiz off our hands.

He's not. He is a very good, but not elite, pass rusher, and is good, but not elite, against the run. He may be pushing top 50, but nowhere close to top 10.

I posted numbers showing just how far apart he and Parsons are in production, and Garrett is on another level even above Parsons.

For reference as well, Cam has a 9.4 sacks per 17 in his career with 2 seasons in which he had 2 and 4 sacks included as well. Crosby has 10.7. Crosby is an obvious upgrade from Cam, but he doesn't come close to those other guys.

better question is after considering salary and draft compensation needed, is crosby even nearly worth the upgrade over granderson at that point when granderson is 20 cents on the dollar.

I was with you until here. Everything else I absolutely agree with, but zero chance I give up 8 overall for Crosby. There are at least 2 potentially high impact rookies that will be sitting there, as well as some WRs and Edge players that could be much better long term over taking on Crosby.

The reason most of these guys are “untradeable” with these extensions and new deals is because of the massive bonuses that are being spread out over 5 years. In Crosby’s case, it was a small bonus ($10M), but they fully guaranteed 2025 & 2026.
2027 becomes fully guaranteed if he’s still on the roster by mid-March this year.

His contract is ripe for Loomis to take it on, then convert his $30M salary into a vet min with the balance being a bonus spread over 5 years…the do it again 3 more times and have a massive void year in 2030.

No he is definitely not worth the upgrade over Granderson considering what he will cost both picks and cap wise. It would be better to swing with pick 8 on an edge guy than use that for Crosby, and I'm still not feeling great about giving up a future 1st either.

He is not the elite player people are claiming he is. He is just a good, available player at an extremely important position that will cost a great deal to get.

You don’t give up the 8th overall pick for a guy that is on the books for $28M+ a year for the next 4 years, and the next 2 years are essentially guaranteed unless he’s absolutely the best at his position.
