0% chance Sharper is even on a ballot.

And he shouldn't be.

Sam Mills is a good choice.

Breesus is the only gaurentee out there.

But the voters take it into consideration (T. Owens). Especially for someone that's a serial rapist.

Sharper may be a POS human but he should be in the HOF.

The answer is Sam Mills. As great of a player he was for the Saints, he is one of the most important players the Carolina Panthers franchise. Also Sharper didn't have as some of you say it "legal problems." The guy was a serial rapist of the worst kind for years that covered multiple states. You don't have to be a great guy to be in the Hall of Fame, you can even be a piece of shite. I do think they draw the line at mass-rape an/or murder. (Post O.J)

I'd love to see Sam Mills get in but he didn't have a lot of QB sacks or interceptions.

He was a 5 time Pro Bowler and a 3 time 1st Team All-pro though.

Never seen a LB his size hit as hard as he did. You could tell he put everything into his play on the field. Whether it was alerting the defense to change assignments in a chess match with the opposing QB or making tackle after tackle.

He gave it his all.

pretty sure when it's criminal actions that ruin other ppl's lives instead of just your own. That absolutely factors into you getting in or not. He will NOT be mentioned for HOF for that reason.

GOAT Jim Brown was charged twice with assault and once intent to commit murder in the immediate years pre-induction and the voters overlooked that. Eddie DeBartolo was accused of sexual assault and involved in the Edwin Edwards corruption case. Bob Hayes and Charles Haley had all their issues. Michael Irvin with his well-documented legal situations pre-induction. James Lofton accused of sexual assault, Junior Seau with his suicide. Say what you want to, the Hall voters set that precedent with these problem people and that's what's been established, deal with it.

Roddy would get a look before Colston and he's not getting in either.

Its also a popularity contest and Colston is as nonexistent as the guy you didn't even know was in your class, but found out he was val

If Colston got in, it would have to be a senior selection due to the back log of WRs that would go in before him.

Sharper would be a lock but I doubt he would go in after all that has happened. I mean Chris Benoit has a better shot at a HOF than Sharper.

You get the point, there are many players in the HOF with legal issues prior to induction that didn't preclude such and as I articulated earlier, character isn't a criterion for HOF induction, should be determined strictly based on what occurred between the white lines, on the football field i.e. on the merits.

You mentioned Lawrence Taylor, though.

His issues were mostly substance abuse, and basically anyone who saw him play acknowledge he's the greatest OLB ever.

Those legal issues aren't the same as Sharper's, and neither Sharper nor TO are considered "greatest ever" at their positions.

Don't think Swilling gets in at this point, Rickey Jackson was the LT of the Dome Patrol, stats aside.

I get what your saying but these don't hold a candle to what Sharper did. In his case he once raped 4 women in 24 hours at 2 different states. Thats in addition to all the other multitude of women he drugged and raped that he pled guilty to. He will never be considered for the Hall.

The entire point is that's the precedent the voters established and if they follow this logic for Sharper, then they should just remove current hall of famers based off that bc it's the PRO FOOTBALL Hall of Fame not the SAINTHOOD Hall of Fame. Cmon man.

I see what your saying, when the voters start making decisions based upon the football players off the field problems it is a slippery slope. I just think this case goes way beyond the grey area of a (L.T, Favre, Michael Irvin).

And it'll likely be determined based off subjectivity than off their performance merits bc sportswriters are very likely to have differing views on off-field activity as opposed to their verified stats and accolades when playing pro football which really they should be deliberating about.
