This is a bitch arse post dude. Harper was a good player for us for years and a piece of the Super Bowl puzzle.

To say that Roman Harper was a key member of the Super Bowl team doesn't do any justice... Everybody played lights out that year, fortunately. Roman Harper is a liability at his position. If he's such a good run stopper than get him the hell out of the secondary. He was paid too much to be rated at the bottom of the league for Strong Safeties. Good riddance.

Harper was a good leader and had strengths along with some weaknesses. Why you have to rip a guy that was a complete professional for our franchise? I just don't understand how this makes you feel better? We obviously moved on from Roman but his teammates really respected hin.
ETA: Notice the down votes. You have no credibility.

Agree with this. He wasn't as bad as some people make him out to be.

Harper was not great in coverage by any means, but to say he is the "worst" is just dumb. He provided some solid play for the Saints.

Screw that. These guys get paid too much. Leadership is a good quality to have, but if you can't get the job done on the field ( which was his biggest flaw, btw) then you deserve criticism. Maybe I'm just use to my work demanding high standards from me. I'm sorry for expecting the same in millionaires.

Please enlighten me on whose worse...

So you're just bitter he gets paid a lot which has nothing to do with anything. Gotcha.

This is a good example of Loomis making good decisions. We got several good years from Harper and then let him go when he was no longer an asset to the team.
They likely would have let him go a year earlier but had no replacement and needed veteran leadership. He looked horrible Thursday night which validates the decision to let him go.
I hope Harper doesn't feel slighted but it was all on him. He wasn't a salary cap liability as much as a liability on the field.

Bitter? No. Voicing my opinion like every other swinging meat on these boards? Yes.

frick you haters! Harper was drafted by the Saints and played and started for seven years. By all accounts he was a good team mate, good in the community and a big role in rebuilding after Katrina and always loved New Orleans. He was also a big part of helping us win the Super Bowl. Oh yeah... In Saints history, he's 5th in tackles, 20th in sacks, 31st in interceptions and 7th in forced fumbles. He was a very good player for the Saints.
Pass coverage wasn't his strong suit, but most safetys are either good at the pass, good at the run or neither. Not many are great at both. He was a solid player and a good Saint. Run and tell that!

He made more this year then you'll make your entire life for being a shitty safety. He wins.

He was a good player, and by all accounts a good teammate and a good man. He helped us win a Super Bowl... If you want to be a miserable shite and spend time arguing about whether a guy who doesn't play for us anymore is a great safety or not, fine spend your life being a petty little shite. Personally, I will just thank the man for his contributions and leave it at that.
To repeat, he did nothing to deserve this useless thread.

He was drafted in 2006. What he was in 2006 was not what we expected all safeties to be in 2013.
Laron Landry must be great in your eyes though right?

Always thought he should have played weakside linebacker...
this...
he should have added 10-15 lbs. and played WLB... could have been a beast...
basically, Harper was great vs. the run, terrible vs. the pass...

He went to a couple of pro bowls and was a huge contributor to our superbowl season.
