LG is on the QB's left side. I think you are very confused. Ruiz is and has been our RG. Either way, there was plenty of pressure from the right side of the QB, which is where #51 RG Ruiz plays.

Watch #51 , our highly paid RG, play like a rookie UDFA out of West Armpit College

What really pisses me off is that he wasn't good at any point to earn that contract. Mickey just gave him that contract for no reason.

Would like to see the rookie Simpkins get a shot at that position. He had played some guard before and looked good at center.

Ruiz was a miss of a draft pick. For the most part, the saints absolutely nailed offensive line picks 2006-2019. Ruiz feels odd because you just expect the guy to plug in and be great based on that era of drafting.

Ruiz sucks, yes.

Anyone else notice that beautiful ball thrown to Olave on 3rd down?
A number 1 wr needs to make that catch. It was a great throw in tight coverage.

I’m grateful for this thread. RG absolutely should have been addressed at #40, #71 (or trade up) or free agency.

There has been so much talk about QB (rightfully so) & other positions that people forgot how bad Ruiz is. Replacing him should have been a priority.

He has NEVER been good.

Almost as embarrassing as Ruiz’s play.

Ruiz plays RG. That would be his side of the line.

First, Ruiz was over drafted and should NOT have been a 1st rd pick.

Second, he is a below average Guard because he’s been a Center his entire lifetime.

Third, he would be an average NFL Center if he ever played that position.

Another crappy Saints Draft Pick

I'm praying this new guy we picked up in the Bink trade (Luke Fortner) can come in and put Ruiz on the bench. He's not cutting it in this new system

"in this new system"

He's never been good.

He’s never preformed up to his draft spot but don’t pretend he hasn’t played well in some years he wasn’t hurt.

No one get a free ride in the NFL and no one has beat him out for that spot yet. This could be the year though. He doesn’t seem to be functioning in this new system at all.

He looked like a decent guard whenever McCoy was next to him but any time that he has someone else next to him at C he constantly blows his assignment.

Adequate at times?

He's never been a good player, IMO.

Loomis still made him the 11th highest paid RG though...
