Do you think Teddy plays in this last preseason game? Or will Hill and Barrett be getting the bulk of the snaps?
Gotta be just Hill and Barrett. No way Teddy can play and Savage sees the writing on the wall and can't afford to get hurt.

I’m not big on him but I’ll trust the evaluation. I’m also not obsessed with draft picks and liked the Davenport trade.
I can’t fathom however trading something for a one year free agent we could have had for free.
Now the counter to that is he wouldn’t have likely signed with us in March because he wanted a place to start.
But still...

Did you watch a different preseason than I did or something?

Acquiring our future starting QB is a bad situation?

Yeah but if Brees goes down for 2 or 3 games in October/November, the front office looks like a bunch of geniuses.

By that logic, we're in a bad situation at a number of positions that are expiring. It won't be hard to re-sign Bridgewater if we choose to do so. Loomis can manipulate the contract so its backloaded for when Brees comes off the books, I believe.

This seems like the opposite of going all in. This sounds like securing our future.
I think it's both. We get a QB who just 3 years ago was a first round pick for a 3rd round pick who at the very least can be a capable back up for a couple of games if Bree's goes down and who knows maybe he picks up the system really good and his first round talents come out and mesh and possibly he becomes dare I say the QB of the future as well as the stop gap for a couple of games this year. It looks as though Sean Payton is for sure leaning towards the mobile qb' s now

sometimes a trade is good for both teams.
the jets paid about $1MM and a 6th round pick for a 3rd round pick, in an exchange for a player they were going to cut anyway...thats good GM'ing
the saints made a mistake by not signing a legitimate back-up QB in the offseason, and looking ahead may not have had draft capital to acquire a future starter. they just killed two birds with one trade, assuming they will attempt to re-sign him. if they dont/cant at the very least they have a back-up this year that can play

Can someone address the report that we get a 2020 3rd rounder back if we don’t wind up re-signing Bridgewater? Since Brees will probably play again in ‘19 and we don’t have a 1st rounder next year, I think I’d rather have 2 3rd rounders in 2020 than 1 each in ‘19 and ‘20.

Should make all the idiots that call in to WWL complaining about Drew Brees happy, dumb mfers

I think this is a ridiculous move!!
Posted on 8/29/18 at 7:27 pm to saintsfan22
I think your correct.
Imagine a great effort from either or both and suddenly out of nowhere a unheard of Saints QB 2-3 controversy lol

Crazy scene: #Jets players were on the bus when they stopped, told Teddy Bridgewater he’d been traded, he waved goodbye, then they drove off, source said. Bridgewater headed to the #Saints. Wild.

I was hoping this would happen. Excellent investment in next 10 years.

If we don’t resign him, we get a 3 in return.

Terrible trade for an average QB, waste of a pick.

Second time in the past 15 years the Saints have gotten a Pro Bowl QB off the street, that simply does not happen ever
