Based off of the first preseason game. We need the QB of the future to get experience as soon as possible. As long as he keeps looking good the next few weeks I see no reason for him to not start game 1.

I tend to agree as of right now, but we have to see next week too.

I think almost no matter what they will start Rattler the first few games, let Shough sit and watch and then start him the rest of the season

we need to learn to live with some bad and know the good. let him develop and get better. He has all the tools. checkdown charlie is just a tad limited even though i think highly of spencer.

Rattler is not the guy, so every game he starts and every rep he gets is wasted IMO. Either Schough is the guy or he isn't. The sooner we find out, the better for the future of the franchise.

There has been value in recent years to not throwing a rookie to the wolves, and letting him sit a few games to watch from the sidelines before starting him.

Not saying that is what Shough needs, but I could see the reasoning.

the only problem is listening to the retards' drivel non stop trying to throw doom n gloom n busts at the wall every 5 seconds bc they thought a tight end would have been a good pick... no shite bro...We got 7 needs and 1 pick.

Question is do they have Rattler face Az, SF, @Sea, and @Buff to start the season then bring in Shough in week 5.

Or do they go the more traditional, let's not have any major shakeups until the bye week (week 11).

Agreed. Unless somebody separates themselves from the pack, let Rattler start against Arizona, San Fran, Seattle and Buffalo. Then let Shough start at home against the Giants and Patriots if Rattler hasn’t cemented his spot as starting QB.

Agreed, and I believe Rattler will be 0-4 when they decide to move to Shough. I want to like Rattler more but he has the pocket presence of a teenager. His game just seems overly frantic and he is taking huge hits every time he plays. He is a guy that you want to root for but I don't think in anyway he is a NFL starter.

He's looked good in practice but in games he just doesn't seem to have it. Not saying he won't figure it out, but we kind of see the same thing over and over again in games.

But yeah I would heavily consider starting him the first 4 games and then if its not working (and I don't think it will be), going to Shough for your next two home games.

Was trying to explain to a friend last night how difficult it is for fans to really understand where these guys stand in the eyes of the coaches. While watching the games (I was unable to watch the game), we only get a limited view of what is happening based on what the camera angle shows us. But what we can't see is did the play get called into the proper protection, how did the QB handle the protection upfront, did they go into their progressions properly, did they miss an open window before they started to adlib...

I heard Rattler had a good pass on a broken play, but was the play broken because of something he did or did not do; or was it truly a busted play that he made something from.

Regarding the 2 INTs the QBs through, was that because of a bad read and pass, or did the defender just out play the WR for the ball, the WR run the route wrong. These are the types of things we can speculate on while watching the play (and make boards like this tick), but it is not something we would truly know

This is where I’m at. Shough looked better to me yesterday, but there’s really no reason to rush him along. He looks confident throwing the ball and the pick didn’t seem to shake his confidence at all. There’s a lot of value in that.

You are playing a 5% type of bet.

It's highly likely that your QB of the future isn't on this team.

Shough should play as soon as you realize he's got the better chance of becoming that guy than Rattler AND when throwing him in there won't interfere with that opportunity. You don't want to ruin his opportunity either.

From a distance, the latter seems like the most important thing now. I'm pretty confident that Rattler will never be the guy. It seems to me like Shough is the kind of guy that could become a flincher if he takes too many hits. I'd make sure he's as ready as he can be before I put him in there. It's in his best interest to do so. At some point, he'll need to perform.

This is where I am. We saw Rattler and while I want him to succeed he hasn't shown me anything really. I get all the injuries etc. but Shough showed me a lot after throwing a pick six and coming back and throwing that nice pass for the touchdown. Meaning he didn't get shaken. You need that confidence playing the most important position in football. Also, Tipton is about to surprise a lot of people. Dude can play.

Itll be hard to come back from that if we start 0-4. Moore wants to win.

Rattler has been practicing with Olave, Shaheed, and Kamara along with a starting oline. No QB is going to be successful if they are surrounded by garbage. Not saying Shuck isn't the guy, but once the real bullets start flying I think we see different production.

Shough is checkdown Charlie, but the other QBs aren't any better based on yesterday's game.

It’s way too early to say Shough should start. He showed some promise yesterday and looked way more comfortable running the offense than Rattler. I will say this though. Rattler has a really good arm but he at this point is just a bad football player. He was awful yesterday. Haener? They shouldn’t even let him in the building this morning. He may be the worst player I’ve seen wear a jersey in a long time

We saw 2 different games. Rattler was not awful. That OLINE and WRs were awful.

He didn't look great but he had constant pressure.
