She got drunk and told friends she was gonna stay, then snuck off to drive home (why no one saw her leave) so she wouldn’t get in trouble

Could've been suicide as well, although I'd put that at a very small percentage.

Running off the road into water is the most likely outcome of driving drunk after a party. No one saw her leave with people. If she was abducted, other party-goers would have mentioned who she was lost seen with. California/Truckee area has some wild roads and lots of wilderness. Many missing people from driving off the road into water.

UPDATE

quote:

Missing California teenager Kiely Rodni has been found in a lake near her Truckee home, a volunteer search and rescue group has claimed.

Rodni, 16, was last seen on August 6.

On Sunday the volunteer diver group Adventures With Purpose announced that they had discovered her, in a sunken car in Donner Lake.

Sad outcome, but not surprising considering the circumstances.

Tragically it’s the best possible outcome. At the least the family can be at peace.

Great job on them. Why didn’t the sheriffs office have this capability?

RIP young lady

That’s sad. What a horrifying way to die too.

Many who drown in a car like this do it fighting against the pressure trying to open the door. Tip: if you drive into a lake roll windows down let the car fill up with water, take a deep breath and hold it right before it fills up, wait till it equalizes and you can swim right out of the window. You won’t swim against the current flowing in, and won’t get the door open until the car fills up and pressure equalizes.

If she was super drunk then she probably didn’t know much of what was going on anyways.

Better than being abducted, raped, and murdered. But not much.

In new cars, first thing to do is roll down windows. Should be enough time before you lose power.

No shite, what time did she leave? How far was that place from her home? Does that correlate with the time her phone stopped pinging? Seems like you could draw a circle on a map and get an idea. Check all lakes/water ways, especially the ones on the route to her home that seem like that could be a likely outcome with. Now we know why the phone likely stopped pinging.

Every person should have a combo window breaker/seat belt cutter in their car. Sad outcome. They are pulling her car out live right now.
