I think the part that irks people is the fact that a lot of people who vacation there think they’re in the the same caliber of folks who own properties there.
This just sounds like jealousy

I can go to Cancun, Tulum, isla Mujeres or Cozumel for less.
Don't sleep on Roatan either. You can rent a place on a private beach with swimming pool that sleeps 6 for $225/night with private shuttle to and from the airport included.

30A is wayyy too crowded and everything is overpriced.
You can get the same beautiful views in Mexico beach or St. George Island and not have to dodge teenagers and pilates moms that will just dart out into the street. You'll pay $150 for your week of groceries that will cost $350 at Modica Market.
30A used to be awesome until every Tom, Dick, and Harry wanted some frat cred by vacationing there so they could get a Seaside shirt, 30A sticker, and tag it on instagram. I feel bad for the people that bought houses down there in the 90's and early 2000's. I live in the panhandle and one of my good friends parents have a house on 30A that they used to drive over from panama city to "staycation". Last time I went in there, there were cobwebs in the house
. It's fricking stressful even going out there anymore. Give me Apalachicola and St. George Island all day long

30A is poorly defined and a long stretch and I have no dog in the fight but I find it interesting how many people call 30A Trashy recently. But I know for a fact Seaside, Water Color, Alys Beach etc in the area have some of the most expensive property rentals...Is it just the poors who can't afford to stay there calling it Trashy to make themselves feel better?
Like all good things it gotten too popular and overbuilt in certain areas and they've gotten more strict on enforcing private property on the beach so it limits where people can set-up squeezing people together and not letting them space out.

Possibly. Most likely people probably don’t give a shite one way or the other. I’m trashy. I still prefer Sandestin. We have family friends that have a couple places at Alys Beach and Rosemary and I’ll take take trash arse Destin over both of those.

30A is great - beautiful beaches and beautiful water. Sure it's crowded, but great town centers.
My thing with it is, it seems like a lot of expense and effort simply to create an environment to force friends and family to sit around in a circle and connect without distractions of electronics.
Aren't there better bang for your buck places to go to accomplish that, where you can enjoy different types of scenery and activities?

Weird melt.
30A is awesome. And I'm a mountain over beach guy.
We had a really good time at Santa Rosa Beach over the holiday.

Looks nice there but the sand and water are just as pretty in Destin.
My wife's family had a condo for years in Destin until they sold it last year. Upkeep and stroms made that decision easy. We used to go every Summer but damn that drive to/from H-town sucked the life out of you. We flew a couple of times, but honestly, we make the short drive to Port A, TX now. Really love that place. Reminds me of Gulf Shores from the 80's. Fishing is awesome. Golf, well, not so much.
Question is, do people still hit up Destin if 30A is the new hot spot? I can remember when Ft Walton was the spot and Destin was kind of a sleeper. Shite, that may have been 30 years ago.

I actually enjoy every trip to Destin or the 30a is just the price. I'm not an OT baller and I travel solo. When I do a group beach trip is always the gulf.
I also am drawn to Latin women and that influences me too. I also go I Colombia and Roatan, the latter is still pricey though.

Yes I can. I went to the Yucatan 6 times in the last year and a half. It cost me more to go to Orange Beach than cancun. Lol

We've stayed out on Dog Island a few times, and man, you want to talk about no crowds. You may be the only people on the beach that day. Beautiful beach. Granted, there isn't anything else on the island other than a few houses, so you only have what you brought over on a boat.

I haven't been there in two years. I do like Roatan but less English spoken than Mexico but the dollar does go far. Rosario Islands colombia is nice too but the beaches aren't as nice but it's dirt cheap and better for singles.

I just go in the shoulder seasons to avoid crowds. I’m not about to go to the beach in June or July

My great grandparents lived in Perry, FL when I was a kid. We used to go to Dekle Beach a lot. Not too far from Apalachicola and Dog Island.

Never once in my life have I ever heard it referred to as "30A" and I have lived in Florida myself and had relatives who have lived in the panhandle for 40 years.
it's literally branded itself as "30A" for at least the last 10 years.
