They’ve been in Texas and Louisiana for years. They’re something to be mindful about, but Africanized bees aren’t the doomsday scenario we were once led to believe.

Right? As a kid, I thought Killer Bees would be waaaaaaayyyyyyyy more of a threat than they actually are...which is pretty much not at all.

I've gotta say, all that prep I made from my Tarzan watching days as a kid went to waste due to the lack of quicksand.

Are these the ones that kill each other all the time?

A beekeeper told me that you have to find their queen and replace it with a non-Africanized queen. The Queen determines how aggressive the bees are, and their behavior can be changed overnight to non aggressive.

Good thinking

I am thinking about quicksand for home use disguised as the front sidewalk.

This summer the infestation of these is the worst I have ever seen.

I have been experimenting with filtered ash from the fire pit in the back yard. Works better than expected till it gets wet. I guess I could cover the sidewalk with a quonset type tunnel but folks might get suspicious.

Seems racist

African bees are black
European bees are blonde

“Journalists” love to pull out the scary bees story when they get writer’s block.

I feel sorry for the bees. Hopefully they find a home outside of Alabama.
