After a little research I see she has been married and divorced twice. She has no kids. She keeps her personal life private. There were rumors she is gay and when asked about it she said "that's a bald face lie".
She was a democrat until 2002.

Apparently she is a drunk too. I am told that she has her good days and her bad days. She is a complete empty chair, which is not an altogether bad thing. She satisfies the first and most important requirement for any politician: First do no harm. She does no harm and is just a seat warmer for the next few years.

I don't care about someone's personal life.
The fact is Alabama is 49% evangelical protestant, 13% mainline protestant. We are talking about people who believes being gay is a sin. They are not going to vote for a gay person.
But if someone has committed a sin and admits to it and says they have asked for forgiveness, they will overlook the things they did.

I guarantee that the majority of her electorate is aware of her sexuality.
I knew about it before the Abortion vote and I know very little about Alabama politics. I’m open to being wrong, but maybe a good question for the Politics board.
