I don't believe you.

North Houston is a blackhole for packages

I dont recall ever having a package lost via USPS. I cant say the same for UPS.
At least where I live, our postal service has always been solid and reliable.

What we have is an oversight problem, not a concept issue. The entire nation is better off with a postal service, we just want one that is efficient and properly run.
I agree. It’s sad that govt has become so incompetent that they can’t run anything well. I remember when a letter was a 2 - 3 day delivery. Now anything that looks like it may contain a gift card shows up opened.
Also, packages aren’t “lost” - theyre probably stolen and there’s no accountability whatsoever.

I contacted Amazon and told them apparently the postal service wasn't going to deliver these, and Amazon shipped replacements. I specifically asked for them to be shipped with Amazon or UPS, not the USPS. Of course they shipped the replacements with USPS as well. I get another notice in the box, same reason, and I had to drive out to the USPS distribution center to pick them up. When I arrived and handed them the ticket, she goes in the back and rolls out a cart with 4 mattress boxes on it. I tried to tell her I only wanted the two, and the original shipment can be returned. She just laughed at me and said they're not sending them back and that I could do that if I wanted to, but she was giving me all 4 boxes. I reached out to Amazon when I got back home and they told me to keep them.
I'll have to remember this profound loophole next time I need a mattress.

Both the USPS in general and FedEx in my neighborhood suck. The USPS charged more for small, flat packages, but added 2 days to the delivery. It's not as if they don't have the infrastructure and personnel. However, our mail carrier is great, but I think she's an exception who carefully delivers/places packages and always scans USPS postage mail pick-ups.

This is true.
But USPS has always been the best delivery service in my experience.

Might be mutually beneficial. USPS loses money on Sunday delivery.
Orange called Amazon out for it in his first term and the Dims immediately knighted for Amazon.

I have my city trash can right next to the mailbox. It never moves except by the trash man who empties it and puts it back
I can't put mine anywhere close to the mailbox or on the curb, our mail person will absolutely hit it. The side of the mail truck that passes is scratched to shite from her hitting trash cans and mailboxes.

9/10 times it’s never shows up, or is lost, or is late. USPS is garbage and needs to be done away with.
Exaggerate much?

I ordered something from Walmart on Monday. They shipped it via USPS. It's been to Dallas, left Dallas, and now back at Dallas. I guess they just like moving the packages around in circles instead delivering in to the final destination.

USPS is fine in my area. Never much of a problem. UPS is the best by a mile.
Those sob's at FedEx can get fricked. They're abhorrent in my area.

I often mail media, and subsequently use the USPS Media Mail option as it's the cheapest. Anytime I step foot in a Baton Rouge Post Office, it's a stark reminder of what life would be like under socialism or communism. UPS and FedEx were essentially created because of how dogshit USPS was.

FWIW, I ship 50 packages per week. Im talking small boxes mostly. Ive been doing that for 15 years.
For me over all those packages, USPS has always given the best service. That with UPS being a distant second and Fed Ex being the worst thing beside a case of the blue balls

UPS, for at least 20 years, has a habit worse than the rest. If you pay for 5 day delivery, your delivery will be delivered on the 5th day. Even if it's been sitting at the local depot the drivers leave from since the end of day 2.
The routing stories of USPS traversing thousands of miles when you were mailing something from Austin to Baton Rouge, for instance, are legend on this board. With the holiday season approaching, I expect many threads about the incompetence of USPS.

Very specific to where you live at times. Your local postmaster can also change that a lot.
The same city can have vastly different experiences in different zip codes.

In my home town we have probably the worst USPS driver in the state. He's known by name in my town of 10k people lol
It's easier to find a house he doesn't deliver to vs the ones he does.
Old black guy that can't get fired is what the post master in our area told us. He will not deliver mail to our office because our AP lady brought her 14 year old dog lap dog, who didn't have teeth and was blind to the office the day he was getting put down. We're talking about a 15 lbs dog.
I know another lady who has a cat her in her garage and he won't deliver to her house either.

USPS employs the worst of the worst in America. It's no wonder they suck at what they do.
quote:
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is widely considered one of the most diverse employers in the U.S., with a workforce that is more diverse than the overall U.S. workforce in terms of race and ethnicity. It employs a significant number of women and people from historically underrepresented racial groups, veterans, and employees with disabilities. For instance, in fiscal year 2022, minorities made up 53% of the workforce, and women made up 45%.
Diversity is our strength.
