Honestly it’s all vitriol in the internet world. In my day to day life of being in public, it’s been fine.

It would be nice if this was true. There are plenty of people that take the hate they spew online out into the real world.

But can you actually do this and lead a normal life? What if you own a business that gets burned down in a riot? Or you’re the victim of a mass shooting or get beaten in a riot? Maybe you’ve got a much better chance to live this way in the rural areas but it could get crazy enough to reach even those people eventually.

It’s not local media that’s pushing the narratives that cause riots and looting.

I see everything going on today in America as a spiritual problem. The political polarizing of America can be attributed to it, as oil and water simply don’t mix, as well as the hedonism and incredible moral decay, the killings, and the general coldness in which people treat each other all can be traced to a lack of Christ in America today. Even the churches are messed up, preaching selfishness, and more than anything just not standing against it and being vocal about it. Money has taken on a greater importance than God, and that’s the real root of the problem IMHO, for when the salt has lost its saltiness, it serves no purpose.

This country needs a revival worse than any time it’s ever needed real revival. It needs purpose, a greater purpose for living than self alone. When this country can say, as in the song “Hurt” that you can have all this kingdom of dirt and mean it, then it will begin to heal. IOW, when we can look at all of our material possessions and just see dirt rather than trophies and riches worthy of sacrificing one’s soul for we will have turned a corner. Stuff simply isn’t making anyone happy.

I quoted because this is well said. America needs to turn away from it's wicked ways for sure. Our moral and societal decay is visible on a daily basis now.

You’re asking if someone can live a normal life without watching national news?

Are you insane?

You kind of proved the OP's point. Instead of simply answering his question, which may have been pretty obvious but it wasn't insulting, you insulted him.

Therein lies some of the problem he's alluding to.

As if it's only Democrats pushing narratives The entire 24/7 sensational news cycle, social media, and echo chambers are driving us apart. Stop watching it. Take breaks from all social media. Get out of political groups. Your life will be much less stressful.

are you serious?

The national media is the PR department of the Left.

Social media makes life anonymous. You can lash out at anyone anytime all you want. No filters. "Opinion Journalism" (pick your political side) masquerading as "news". People lock on to one channel or news service and aren't open to other opinions. Lack of community. COVID hasn't helped matters at all, but the transient nature of society. No roots. No sense of community and belonging. No moral compass. Not going to church.

You could go on and on, but those are the "biggies".

I never said the left doesn't push a narrative, or that they dont control a majority of the news outlets. Just that everyone is full of shite.

Never been more divided, our political leaders on both sides are absolutely unqualified for what they were elected to do, media is worthless, and people are bored, stuck at home.

Brain washing/control has been proven. What's to say that these "people" haven't been used in this way?

People don’t bat an eye when discussing China and controlling their people. Why wouldn’t the US be viewed that way to others? Why are we so immune to this level of corruption? It’s like the battered woman in a relationship that swears the husband will change.

Even if this is the case, our media will obsess over the race of the victims. As with everything these days, every occurrence revolves around the color of those involved. It is a terminal cancer that has infected our society, almost entirely spread by the mainstream media and politicians on the left. And you can’t even call them out on it, as you will be censored by those who control the narrative. We’re in an enormous mess.

Point out the hypocrisy, and you are a racist. Your race won't matter because you are acting white.

But both sides do it...
Sure. Yeah.

And it doesn't need to be, IMO. What is the desire to spill blood and take so many people out? We are sick spiritually in this country, and that is coming from

We are being led to believe that these are violent times.

From a statistical standpoint, they are far from it. This is the safest time in history to be alive.

Don’t fall for their tricks.

This is a legitimate concern.

300+ million humans need SOMETHING, whether it’s a fairytale or not, to connect them to one another in order to live and work together peacefully.

Religion is falling quickly by the wayside. Some of this is natural with the progression of science and technology. We are also less and less united by flag and anthem.

We are being told to drop our walls and ditch our customs. What else do we have to connect us to one another? Who are we then?

Even if you don't believe in a higher being, religion can bring people of all backgrounds together for a better cause. There are certainly those that abuse the system financially, but the core of religion can be extremely beneficial to the underprivileged looking for a better life. The idea of hope is a powerful thing. I've been a part of a few churches that do a ton of outreach and to me that's the best part of it. Connecting the community across different ethnicities, classes, etc.
