We did this in 1982. This works for picky eaters from 2-5.

Run the table food meat through a blender. Pour that into old style ice cube trays. After that freezes, put them into a zip lock bag and label as meat. Repeat same process for vegetables. When time to feed them, use microwave. Saves a lot of time and money.

Train her like you would a dog. You eat when it’s feeding time, otherwise you have to wait until the next feeding time. She gets hungry enough and she’ll start eating

Yep. No snacks, limit milk. They will try to get full on something else, don't let that happen.

No toddler ever committed suicide via starvation. Don’t sweat it and they will eat when they are hungry enough. This is stage 1 of the next 16 years of boundary testing.

Exactly. It’s also not a thing that is a one size fits all approach. Each kid is different, trust your instinct on how to best handle those stages based on how your kid will respond.

Parenting is mostly guesswork, but if you trust your gut and give yourself some outs while remaining flexible - it will work out just fine.

When she gets hungry enough, the little fricker will eat. She isn't going to starve herself to death.

I would start cutting back on the bottle. Start with the morning one. Feed her before any milk.

1) It’s about control. Instead of giving her food and begging her to eat, put 2 things in front of her and ask if she would prefer one or the other. Peas or carrots? Chicken or peas?

2) If she gets hungry enough, she will eat.

Like a few have said, as long as she's not super skinny and she's healthy, I probably wouldn't worry much about it.

But I'd definitely say at that age, you'll have MUCH more success using a reward system than a punishment system. Don't take something away, giver her something she likes if she does good

That’s 15-20 ounces of whole milk? Which is fine for age but that’s a lot of calories right there.

If she is growing normally I don’t think you have a problem. All you can do is put decent food in front of her, limit unhealthy snacking and model sitting at the table to eat.

If her weight and growth are all fine, do not give in and let her just roam while eating or eat meals on demand whenever she wants them.. Those are much harder bad eating habits to break than picky eating at 2.

Now if her weight and growth really are a concern - frick man I have no idea that’s a real rock and hard place as a parent.

Don't worry about it unless her pediatrician tells you that she is underweight/undernourished. She will eat when she is hungry. A multivitamin might help reassure you.

She’s probably around the 30th percentile in weight.

I’m not worried about her weight, I just want her to eat

Never been told this by our pediatrician.

Everyone has nailed it. She’s just not hungry. Going for a walk or run around the backyard to work up an appetite. No snacks or bottles 2 hours before dinner.

My kids are 8,8, and 11 and I still regulate how much they eat so they’re hungry for dinner. Kids are more willing to try and like new foods if they’re hungry.

What do you do when she says she’s done? Does she sit at the table until meal time is over? No screens, no TV?

This is most of your problem right here.

She likes the "bottle feeding" rather than food and she's getting enough to feel satisfied. Switch to mostly water and she'll find some foods she likes more.
