One landed in Jackson back in the late 80's. It was a British Airways bird, and I took Polaroids. It flew passengers from JAN to JFK (subsonic of course), then on to London, supersonic. It was some promotional deal. It was 1988 I think.

One Air France Concorde came to MSY.

Edwin Edwards chartered one to CDG for a campaign fundraiser.

British Airways also flew New Orleans - Cologne, Germany in 1984.

Does anyone watch The Man in the High Castle? If so, in the second or third episode, is that big jet with the swastika on the back supposed to be a Concorde?

Honest question, if it's at 50,000+ ft do you still hear it? That's almost 10 miles high? I guess 10 miles isn't that far.

It's a rocket plane, supposedly the Nazis had plans for them but obviously that never worked out, they would potentially be really dangerous but faster than Concorde.

I saw Concorde about a year before they were decommissioned, would have loved a chance to go on one

Ahh I gotcha. Rocket plane as in, they wouldn't have turbine engines like regular jets?

From what I remember the best way to describe it would be to imagine a space launch and then the plane would glide at some outrageous speed

They have one here at the Boeing Museum. The docent mentioned that they could get it flying in two weeks if need be which was incredibly surprising to hear. Yes, they are super cramped.

In the series they refer to it as a "rocket plane", I did notice they CG'ed it at Tempelhof Airport in a scene in Berlin.

There weren't many OT Ballers flying around in Concordes-

My grandfather did. He was an OT baller. He flew it from London to New York. He said you could see the curvature of the earth out of the window.

Shaq disagrees.

Absolutely. The Concordes made a huge boom. Look at the end of this article and you'll see how its sound pressure would compare to some of the other booms that were common to hear.

Concorde Boom

I remember the SR's boom. When I was a kid, you could hear them pretty regularly as they'd fly out over the Gulf. Quick double boom and then sometimes a third boom and LOUD, but not as loud of the Concorde's. Of course, the Concorde flew six miles lower than the SR, so that has a lot to do with it.
