Sounds good.

I'm not opposed to going to bars but I don't think I'd live somewhere because of the local nightlife these days.

and i find NOLA, as in true nola, people to be some of the worst about this. They think and act like everything nola is the best. imo is pretty much a shite hole.

I find this true of almost anywhere. People who think the place is awful will leave, those who stay think it’s the best place ever

That being said, my husband’s good friend lives in Indianapolis - it’s probably a good place to raise a family

OP isn't going to wait for Texas to break from the rest of the United States? As far as Indiana, it's as bland as it gets. High levels of opioids,HIV, dry counties, flat as a pancake band boring as hell when I drove through it. I always tell people driving I-70 through Indianapolis is the worst drive I've ever taken

Been there but never lived there. It is the most boring and bland city I have ever visited. However, they do sell small 12 oz cans of colt 45 there, so…there’s that.

People seem to often conflate places that are fun/great to visit vs. places that are great to live. There can be significant overlap but there is also often not.

The food was terrible and I didn’t see one attractive woman who was actually from there (they were all out of townsers at the same convention I was attending). I can forgive boring if you’ve got something else to offer:
1. Safety? Eh, still got a LOT of crime
2. Beautiful architecture? Not really. Just a lot of shitty looking midrise apartment buildings like you’d find for students right outside of a college campus.
3. Food? Complete swing and a miss
4. Weather? Literally the worst of both worlds. It gets blizzards in the winter yet still hot and muggy in the summer.

I couldn’t find one Truly positive aspect about the city that made it stand out relative to other large American cities. It makes Houston look charming.

Would love to see the answer to this

Indy is a fine mid-sized to large city where you're going to encounter less "culture" than you would in other similarly sized cities (everything people love about Indy is actually because of white people). And if you're into sports it's a great place to be. They have a commission who is in charge of getting big events and they do an awesome job...Final Fours, Super Bowls, B1G championship, Indy racing, you name it. And it's a city where everything in town is about that event, whereas they can get lost in other cities.

I don't disagree with that. As said Indianapolis is a fine city in itself.

But outside of the city and all the shite that costs money to attend, its just corn country. Is there even a decent or nice lake nearby? I'm sure there is.

My point was that if OP has medical jobs that easily move elsewhere, why pick Indianapolis when you can go almost anywhere?

If you just love the American suburban life in a mid sized city, absolutely nothing wrong at all and not hating.

You aren't lying. I can't wait to get out of Collin County when the youngest is done with school

I heard he lived in Harrison, TN (just north of Chattanooga).

He may have a home there, but i recently read an article where he said he liked Denver so much that he made it his primary residence when he was done playing.. i think his kids had already started school there as well.. interestingly , the same article said that Eli has made his primary home in New York /New Jersey, and NY & Denver is where they do their Manningcast from, which btw is the best show on television currently.

Medical wise not sure what OP does but Chattanooga is tiny for that field. Indy has more options

There are some lakes around there, but nothing special. That said it wouldn't surprise me if the wealthy folks had houses on lake Michigan they head to in the summer. And that is awesome. Beautiful water, resort towns, beaches...

I'm sure all 2.4 million people in Indianapolis are bored out of their minds.

I never said that.

But don't let that distract you from the fact that Indianapolis is NOT known as a party destination city. For a reason.
