Same with guys named Stephen; no Steve, no Stevie, no SteveO, STEPHEN.
I am a Steven and have been called all of the above. Even have an older cousin that call me Stevens. Doesn't bother me one bit but I am 45 years of age.

Nicknamed approved.

My brother was one of those kids. Went most of his childhood with ice and stiches on his head. His nickname was Busta because he was always busting his own head.

My family uses nicknames exclusively for the 3 boys. M-Foo, Krinkus, and Bill were our childhood named that stuck. All derived from mispronunciation of our given names

That was my neighbor’s high school football team nickname in the 80s. Given by the coach. (At what is now Dunham, for the BR folks.)

Best nicknames are the ones the enlisted military members give each other.

Drill Sgt. gave me mine in basic that followed me till I got out. Luscious, because I hated getting my hands dirty.

Parents these days already select a catchy nickname before the kid is born. And it’s probably not Stumpy.

but stumpy's parents are cool with it, not so much GOAT's mom

Just rename him to "SonOfAC*nt". If you say it real fast, it’ll sound like son of a gun.

No sense of humor and probably can’t take a joke either. Insecurity is her problem I’ll bet

I’d never make it in today’s youth sports. I gave almost all my kids nicknames because I struggle remembering names.
