I could not go forward with a case against this quack. I plan to go forward with what that so called professional did to me.
I’m sure you can get a decent lawyer through this site or by word of mouth. When they are filling you in on the med mal lawsuit process, make sure they’ve brushed up on the new time deadlines. Also make sure they do that type of law or aren’t too busy so they don’t bite off more than they can chew. It will be an uphill battle, but not a bridge too far.

Personal injury or medical malpractice attorneys seem like they would be easy to find.
Personal Injury attorneys are everywhere, but medical malpractice is a challenging area of case law, and unless it slam dunk most attorneys will shy away from taking it. Like they cut off the wrong leg or they left a surgical instrument inside of you verses an outcome that didn’t come out satisfactory.
Medical Malpractice in Louisiana is a system that is designed for the plaintiff to fail 95% of the time and nearly never reach a court room.
A case is first heard by a medical malpractice board who will make a determination on whether the malpractice occurs and recommends a settlement before going to court. After that determination is when a plaintiff can sue, but then you hit liability caps that haven’t been raised since the 1970’s.
So most attorneys will shy away from taking a case like this knowing the payout will be limited and the work will be a long winding road which will end in a settlement that usually benefits the doctor or medical industry.
While I say this about it being hard to get justice or a decent payout from a plaintiff perspective, medical malpractice insurance is one of the most expensive insurance products that doctor/ medical professionals can buy and pays out as bad as a homeowner’s policy with a high deductible. It may even be managed/owned by a state agency like Louisiana Citizens which is why the state controls the first phase of the process.
I could be wrong, but that is a summation of what one legal eagle posted a few years back on this board a few years back.

There was a case in Grayson County, Texas (about 40 years ago) where a national dental clinic pulled all of a guy's teeth for dentures - except he was in for a single extraction.
When he came to, he whipped up on the dentist.
I know the malpractice case settled (the guy's teeth obviously weren't great). I think the criminal case was ultimately dismissed.
