I hated my wedding and told my wife that and never let her forget how little she means to me and then I got fat and continued my spiral into alcoholism while refusing to talk to her or spend any real time with her other than the occasional date night I reluctantly went on and complained about the whole time while on my phone. No idea why the marriage didn’t work out. Women are insane and it’s not worth it. I’m happier now that I’m alone and my mom does my laundry.

Interesting. My wife and I are both Louisiana native, LSU Alumni, married in Santa Barbara CA. Our wedding was attended by one person plus minister. Gorgeous setting outdoor gazebo. Picked up champagne, French bread, cheese, fruit and pate for the reception in a beachfront state park for the three of us. All for about $500 not including Rehearsal Dinner for three at Chinois On Main in Santa Monica. Forty years ago come May.

shite ours was almost 6 figures. My poor father in law. He tried to do it for cheap in south Texas and cut us a check for the difference but she had to have the full on bougie new orleans showie wedding. It was an incredible night and I don't regret it for a second but I also didn't have to foot that bill.

Alabama should have an asterisk because they split the cost amongst a single family

Louisiana folks spend 2nd most in the Southeast

Curious if this is based on where the bride and groom are from or not.

Lot of expensive destination weddings in New Orleans.

Charleston is a huge wedding destination and has gotten expensive as shite. I bet if you removed the other population centers that figure would skyrocket.

But SD?? I love the state and have spent a decent amount of time driving all over the state. But unless you’re getting married in some weird Sturgis blowout or renting out a chunk of a Deadwood casino, or Rushmore, I can’t imagine it being that high. Maybe an oil sheik had a billion dollar wedding there once and it’s still averaging out.

Louisiana is a hard drinking Catholic, Saturday night, open bar, good food, wedding place.

I remember NOLA Sweet 16’s in the early 80’s had food, booze and awesome bands. They were trial wedding reception runs that the girls parents split 8-10 ways. It was a great time to be alive.

We did $5k in Vegas on a weekend I had a rotation off from work and had a blast. Spending all that money on a wedding is ridiculous

No way the average Alabama wedding is over 20k. I don't believe these numbers at all.

My wife and I did something very similar. She's a tightwad though.

Average price ehh... does the poll only include the top 5% of upper class.

I know of only one person that spent 10s of thousands on a wedding.
