So…entergy just sent text saying they are still assessing damage in my area. Once they finish assessment. they will then give an estimate of when it will be restored.

I keep getting those same texts from them despite not losing power at all. Leave me the frick alone and go restore power to the people who need it.

I understand some kids were out racing around and took out the poll. Heard there may have been a fatality.

Tree took down the pole. The car that is there came after it was down. Was speeding/not paying attention and ran into the tree.

Prob for the best because there is no telling how long until power comes back on in a 2-3 mile square radius of Brentwood and old Hammond

Would you rather a bad estimate or no estimate? Serious question.

A bad estimate can be forgiven. After all it is an “estimate”. No estimate at all is inexcusable.

I don't know who would think this. Once anything is put in writing, people believe it's a fact and forget about that word..."estimate".

I’d rather some estimate, even if it’s not that accurate. At least then I could game plan

I’ll never understand the logic that it’s ok for Entergy not to give its best estimate because some people won’t be able to handle it.

If they say 8 weeks people will lose their shite.

If they say 2 weeks and miss, people will lose their shite even more.

In a way it does. Priority always goes to critical infrastructure. There are numerous Parishes with hospitals, fire stations, police stations etc. running on generators. They will give these situations priority.

They have to know the whole picture in order to deploy assets effectively.

Exactly! Additionally, what I've seen is that they also try to get the most people possible up. They are going to work on an area that gets up 250 homes before one that gets up 50 homes. I live in a very small neighborhood in the Houston area and we are always last up.

For fricks sake.

The estimates need to be specific to small areas. It’s not imortamt to anyone how long it takes for the entire state to be restored.

What’s important is that people understand the timeline so that they can make decisions about their lives.

Are you really suggesting that the person who is facing 8 weeks shouldn’t be told? frick man. That person may very well want to get out of the area for a wait that long.

Honest opinion needed … no politics

How functional is it in br around campus
I have a condo next to campus for recreation and am planning on relocating some elderly family from Kenner to it…

I have power and water working at the condo…
But how is grocery…gas etc… i envision keeping them there for a while as Kenner gets back up…

Is north gate sorta normal ?????

The argument isn’t that they aren’t getting people up optimally (although I don’t think they are). It’s that they aren’t communicating with realistic estimates.

People like you in your neighborhood should be told that you are last to be restored and that the expectation is x weeks out.

Not sure about specifics for the area but gas is a problem with very long lines for the stations with power and gas.

Here is a list of some grocery stores open.

I know for a fact that some areas showing no power still do have power. This is the opposite of post Gustav when we got power 2 weeks after Entergy called it restored
